Our word academy comes from the Greek word Akademeia, the name of the park or grove outside of ancient Athens where the philosopher Plato taught his students. Just as schools and parks today are often named after famous persons, the Akademeia had been named in honor of a Greek hero, Akademos.
Other word games have various types of boosts and power ups, but in Word Academy there are only two: Undo and Hint. Undo allows you to reset the board, which is important in levels where you have to find more than one word.

In Word Academy, you can form words in horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines. At first you will not have many combinations (the first boards only have four letters), but the difficulty increases considerably as you level up, with more (and longer) words to form.
When you have scored a certain amount of points by forming words, you will move up to the next level of difficulty, which gives you more credits to spend on using Undo and Hint. The only other ways to achieve these power ups are by paying or by sharing the link on social media.
Living Word Academy was founded in 1971 after federal courts ordered busing to achieve racial integration in the Oklahoma City public school district. Although mainly supported by Church of Christ members, the academy has no religious affiliation.
The academy was the first school to open its doors in Brownsville. Officials say the Sisters of the Incarnate Word will stay within the Brownsville Diocese, and the advisory board president says they will work to get faculty and staff into other catholic schools. 2351a5e196
