Woohyung Lim is a renowned expert in AI and software engineering with an impressive academic and professional background.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University (SNU) in 2000, followed by a Master’s (M.S.) and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the same institution in 2002 and 2007, respectively.
His career began at Samsung Electronics, where he served as a Senior Software Engineer from September 2007 to April 2013. During this time, he made significant contributions to the development of multimedia and AI agent applications for Samsung's mobile devices.
In May 2013, he joined SK Telecom, dedicating nearly six years to advancing speech recognition research and leading the development of commercial voice agent services.
In March 2019, Woohyung became part of the LG Corporation group, and in December 2020, he joined LG AI Research as one of its founding members.
He currently serves as Head of LG AI Research, where he leads cutting-edge AI technology research and develops AI-driven solutions to optimize corporate decision-making and operational efficiency.
He has also been a general member of NAEK (the National Academy of Engineering of Korea) since January 2025.
His research interests include deep learning for prediction, optimization, representation learning, and other cutting-edge areas in AI, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field. He is confident that AI will bring about significant changes in society.
