Read the next chapter in the ongoing indie comic series that's quietly carving out an unsettling world of murder and mystique in the Midwest. Created, written and illustrated by Gabe Simmons, the series is available completely free on GlobalComix, where you can now read both issues and catch up on the story from the very beginning.
Nighthollow Ridge is a full-colour, twice-yearly comic that sits in the small-town crime genre with a hint of supernatural horror sprinkled on top. Inspired by True Detective and Twin Peaks, as well as the cosmic horror of Lovecraftian fiction, the story follows a murder investigation in a remote town where Detective Jake Thompson tries to outrun his dark past.
Issue #2 continues the setup from the debut issue, expanding the cast and pulling back the curtain on the dark forces at work on the Ridge and beyond. You'll also get to see the earliest moments of our wayward detective's life and what spurs him to take on crime in the city.
Every page is digitally drawn by Simmons, who also writes, colours and letters the book. He's also committed to making all his Wonky Face series free to read by design. “I just want people to read them,” Simmons says. “If Nighthollow Ridge connects with even a small group of readers who like the story I’m trying to tell, that’s more than enough for me.”
For new readers, now is the perfect time to jump onboard. With just two issues out so far, it’s easy to catch up, and the twice-yearly schedule will give you more than enough time to pore over the issues before each new release.
Both issues are available now, free to read on GlobalComix. Give it a try and support indie comics!
