Opening a home salon is something I have dreamt about ever since I signed up for cosmetology school. That was over a decade ago though and as the years passed that dream seemed less and less plausible. Until one day I found myself with a spare bedroom, trying to get creative about how to make a little extra money. That's when the idea of a home salon resurfaced. Within minutes I was researching what it would take to legally get this going. Within hours I was reaching out to a contractor friend trying to figure out how much it would cost. Within days I had an LLC, a business licence, a shampoo bowl ordered, and a plumber on the way! I had no idea if it would work but I was at a place where I was willing to risk it.

Though that all sounds like a lot, the most daunting task which I had to decide on before I got anything else going was to pick a name for my salon. This was a task I didn't take lightly. Of all my years in and out of different salons, I've noticed one thing consistently: people are so worried about getting prettier and rarely does anyone stop to point out the beauty one already possesses. If there is one thing I have learned it is that each one of us was created on purpose, with a purpose. I think that Psalm 139 in the Bible spells that out nicely for us. I wanted my salon to have a different emphasis than most salons. Of course we all need a haircut every once in a while, and there's nothing wrong with covering those grays or sprucing up your color! The difference is, I believe every person that sits in my chair is already as beautiful as can be because they were created purposely by a God who makes no mistakes. 

So I reached out to a few people with Psalm 139 in mind asking for help coming up with a name for the salon that would be catchy, meaningful, and of course look good written down (I'm nerdy about stuff like that). Not long after, "wonderfully made salon" was shot back to me. I pondered it for a few minutes, said it out loud a few times, wrote it down, and then I knew, that was it!  

And that is how the salon was named. The salon name "Wonderfully Made Salon" has been a perfect fit for this new endeavor. I'm looking forward to many more years of Wonderfully Made Salon with you!
