A conference celebrating International Women in Mathematics Day

3-day Conference to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maryam Mirzakhani 

10-12th May, 2024.

 International Women in Mathematics Day  is celebrated on May 12 , which has been celebrated since 2019. The day is in honour of Maryam Mirzakhani, born 12 May 1977, the  first woman to win the Fields Medal.

May 12 is a joyful opportunity for the mathematical community to celebrate women in mathematics. The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming and inclusive work environment for everybody.

Maryam Mirzakhani 

 Maryam Mirzakhani (born May 12, 1977 - died July 14, 2017) Iranian mathematician who became (2014) the first woman and the first Iranian to be awarded a Fields Medal. The citation for her award recognized “her outstanding contributions to the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces.”
