Caden's Hellaverse Verse Information
Caden's Hellaverse Verse Information
Full Name: Caden "Redeye" Vox (Last name not publicly known).
Species: Hellborn Hellhound, modded with different bits and pieces of cybernetics he has been able to acquire in a past life and/or in Hell.
Backstory: Engineered from birth to be a ruthless bounty hunter, Caden continues that work even now into the underworld. He was engineered and crafted to perfection by a corporate Overlord, named Caldero, and engineered with better technology and enhancements to make him one of the many disposable enforcers wandering Hell for Calderon. Serving under the overlord for many, many years, Caden defected from his team and slowly started to grow a reputation in Hell, almost becoming more of a myth than an actual Hellhound. One rumor that still circulates is how he supposedly burned down an entire factory that had been under his previous employer's control with a single glare, earning his more common nickname of "Redeye", thanks to the constantly red glow that comes from his right eye. A separate piece of his previous employer sticks around in the form of a bloodstained bandana, acting as a cursed artifact, with some saying it still screams like his previous targets had during the night.
Personality/Appearance: Caden is quiet, brooding Hellhound who rarely wants to speak to others unless it's important, for his work, or serves as a warning. He has a red cybernetic eye that seems to never stop flickering, a metal arm that can be utilized for melee combat, and a reputation among some of the demons of Hell that make them question if a conflict is worth the risk. He seems to internally fight with his emotions quite a bit, despite his gruff and mean appearance, rarely seeming to want to be around others but seeming to always end up in conversations with others. He follows his own code, refuses to take orders (unless it's specifically for bounty hunting), and can show a softer side if someone was able to dig deep enough. Or if someone was in danger that he enjoyed his time with. When stressed, he seems to smoke quite a bit, drinks at a lot of the local bars scattered across Hell, and holds the appearance of not having slept well in a decade. Whether or not there is redemption out there for what Caden has done? He doesn't believe he would do enough to ever earn it, his past is a great reminder of that.
Current Life: He currently resides off the grid in a rusted shipping container that was bolted to the underside of a Greed Ring scrap station. He likes being there as it means he knows he's still forgotten and potentially condemned by his prior Overlord, which is what he wants to keep that way. He scrapes by as a bounty hunter and black-market enforcer, taking contracts to target those who may be considered threats to others or to bigger Overlords and companies. He really doesn't care about the eanrings he gets a lot of the time, he really just likes to do what he enjoys and gets the chance every now and again to hit back at those who built, and broke, him. If there are times when activity is not as high, he'll likely be in lower-end bars throughout the Wrath Ring, gathering intel and swapping out his own for drinks or trying to fix up the cybernetics he has, to the best of his ability, in silence. There was a rumor circulating around that he had been tracking units operating in other rings working for his prior Overlord, sabatoging them when he can. Generally, he doesn't like to stay in once place too long and will always have a way of a situation so he can't be trapped in. As far as he's concerned about everything else? He's more of a myth than a Hellhound... and he'd like to keep it that way.
Caden's Pirate Hellaverse Verse Info
Caden: The Pirate Captain who was left for Dead
Caden was once a pirate/sailor who served under an Overlord in that Overlord's Navy (Calderon), acting as an slightly engineered enforcer onboard the ship (to maintain order amongst the rest of the crew) and also as a navigator and tracker. Where Calderon's Navy operated is within the Greed Ring, a place that no longer exists (as far as many are aware) called the Crucible Shoals. However, unlike some of my other verses for Caden, he was left for dead during a mutiny aboard the ship he served on (name pending). He was betrayed, left in the Shoals, and he had to claw his way out of the cursed reefs with nothing but a torn pirate coat, some cybernetic enhancements, r pirate sword infused with burning metal, and a pistol that now is soaked in salt water.
Caden was able to make his way to different ports of call in the Greed Ring to start trying to make a name for himself, finally becoming a pirate captain of a war-ravaged frigate named the Ironfang, made up of patchy sails, a crew who likes to drink way too much, and enough ammunition to sink a city (theoretically).
He works as somewhat of a bounty hunter, hunting down targets he deems to be worthwhile (or ones he is paid well to go after), as well as cursed artifacts. His older cyborg arm was slightly upgraded over the years allowing him to be more effective in sword fights, but the salt water has certainly not been kind to the hellhound in that regard.
Just like some of his other verses, he is a gruff capitan, but calculating his ever move to ensure he doesn't make a mistake. He's well-respected by his crew for taking on jobs to punish the corrupt nobility who rule over the land masses of Hell, almost being a combination of that bounty hunter mantra and pirate legend. He will stalk anyone down who he deems to be worthy enough, sailing cursed seas in defiance of the Overlord who once enslaved him (his words, not mine).
General Headcanons
Caden normally does not like speaking too much. When he does, his voice is deep, gravelley, and entirely controlled, acting as if there was always someone around who would shove a knife into his back.
When Caden was working with his previous Overlord, named Calderon, he was a member of a specific bounty hunting group that would go after other corporations and Overlords to try and "think out the competition" for his Overlord. Whether or not they were always successful is up for debate, but it seemed the team was incredibly good at what they did, with the team becoming more well known as "The Pack" over time.
Caden was also given a control chip that was implemented into him to ensure he was always under Calderon's control and was put into violent conditioning throughout his childhood before he joined the ranks of The Pack.
After he disobeyed an order by Calderon to exterminate a small Sloth Ring community, one that had supposedly been helping out competition against Calderon and the company, Caden was able to rip out his neural chip that controlled part of his conditioning and control from Calderon and went rogue.
During this time, he fought off quite a bit of his old team, ending up killing a few in the process of the escape. Since them, he's been hunted down by Calderon by a strike team of even more enhanced Pack members turned into bounty hunters known as "The Fang Unit", similar to what might be seen with black-ops ghost soldiers.
Caden currently lives off the grid at his rusty container in the Greed Ring, trying to avoid using his official name at all costs and more commonly going by "Redeye".
His cybernetic eye never seems to dim, flickering during storms, when near static fields, or if there was someone near him who was marked by Calderon company's "helltech" as it more widely became known as. Not many know what the eye does and many are too afraid to ask or find out.
A lot of the money Caden does have in his possession come from his bounty hunting jobs that can target other Overlords or corporations through Hell, or even human soul traffickers if he feels to be in a good mood.
With that in mind... he does not have a lot to his name, just due to the amount of upkeep it requires for him to keep his helltech equipment in good condition.
Caden is very much a regular at a lot of bars throughout Hell, trading stories about things he's seen with others or even finding black-market tech or weaponry. He tries not to drink much, if he can, but does it to try and quiet his thoughts from time to time.
He does know how to make drinks however, learning about it during his time in the Greed Ring at a bar that had been able to hide him from intruders and others hunting him down.
During his time learning about how to make drinks, he ended up making his own version of a whiskey cocktail that he calls "The Last Round" signifying his story up to this point.
Despite his closed off and hardened exterior, Caden seems to be respected by other hellhounds. He isn't entirely sure why that is, but he has heard from others that some of the Hellhounds viewed him as more of a cautionary tale/myth about what may happen if they serve an Overlord, which was apparently called "The pack hound who bit back", while others believe he may be cursed and don't want to associate with him.
Inside his shipping container, he has heaps of weapons, spare helltech parts, and maps he has found to help him fight back against his Overlord.
Caden does gamble some of his savings every now and again. He doesn't expect to win the games he plays, but more so to observe and practice his skills. He uses it to read people, sense tells about when people gamble, and waiting for when others slip up during their turns. He also uses it to find out info from those who still serve Calderon about any little details they slip up on and let him know about.
He does not normally cheat in any way, although he does do it against those who may deserve it. Anything he does win, goes to upgrading his tech and favors he owed others. And... some of it even goes to Hellhounds trying to find a way out of the violence of the ring they were born in.
Caden does have a soft spot for abandoned Hellhounds and strays, although he pretends he doesn't care. He was able to pay off the debt one time of a kid who got caught up in a gambling den and was able to get him home. All while Caden didn't say a single word.
He does keep past stuff from Pack members who fell by him during combat. A lot of old dog tags, bandanas, and so on. If someone was to catch him at night, they may even see him talking briefly to the items he collected as a way to try and clear his concise or "catch up" with those he may have called friends.
Caden is... not entirely sure why some Overlords are interested in him. Despite his tech, he doesn't seem himself as being too powerful or anything. However, if someone was to try and conscript him, or get him to sign a contract again, he wouldn't hesitate to let lose with everything he had.
Caden still keeps around the bandana he wore during his Pack days hanging around his belt. It's best advised not to say anything if you know what it means...
Information about Calderon: Hell's Blacksmith
Name: Calderon
Aliases: The Forge Tyrant, The Ironblood Overlord
Backstory: An Overlord forged in fire, blood, and arms dealing, Calderon represents a machine of war and of power and control over those he has a grip on. Formerly an actual warlord while on Earth, who sold weapons associated with some of the Earth's more brutal conflicts, Calderon's soul was coated in blood and corruption upon his death. However, unlike others out there who may be put back into their place thanks to Hell's ruthless system, Calderon was only made stronger because of it. Calderon built up his own weapon empire within the Greed Ring, similar to Carmilla, building up weapons and weaponized soldiers alike to fight in wars that Calderon deemed to be worthwhile. Calderon built up something that could only be rivaled by Carmilla in terms of production and output, but focused entirely on conflicts happening within Hell to ensure the maximum amount of bloodshed could be spilled.
Personality: Calderon is a cruel, deeply manipulative, and calculating Overlord. He's absolutely obssessed with control over those who serve him, and in general, as well as the efficiency of his production and wars that are occurring around him. He treats a lot of souls of those in Hell as simple resources and the people living within Hell as simple tools until they prove to be useful to him and his schemes. He holds a belief that rebellion, whether that be within his own corporation or from others in Hell, are engineering flaws that must be "adjusted" or "corrected". He does also hold a feeling that he is a "parent" to Caden, which I will get into here in a bit.
Appearance: Calderon is basically a blend of machinery and hellforged armor. He stands at 9 feet tall, with half of his face being a cracked, molten skull, the other half behind a metal mask of the same shape as his molten face. His torso is like a walking furnace, with a glowing core in his chest, exhaust horns on top of his head that can vent steam/smoke (depending on his mood), and also some other limbs that look like pistons around his legs and arms. He wears nothing more than war torn, scorched black armor and a cape of war banners and contracts that people have made to him over the years, trying to display his control over others. Basically? He looks like if a demon was built inside a massive factory. And he has the personality to go along with that.
Abilites and Powers: TBD.
Connection with Caden: Calderon created the army that helps fuel quite a few of the wars in Hell under a simple name: The Pack. An elite group designed and engineered by Calderon himself, with the soldiers being part-demon and part-machine. Caden was the crown jewel of the unit, being the most perfectly designed operative to track down anyone Calderon wished, to find them, to kill those who got in his (or Calderon's) way, and to destroy competition and other corporations alike. Caden, however, was able to break free of Calderon's harsh grip on him, sabotaging Calderon's most fleshed out project in the process on his way out, and going rogue. The betrayal by Caden was not one that just hurt Calderon, but it also humiliated him when viewed from the other Overlords. Because of this, Caden has been hunted down by Calderon ever since, not to simply destroy him, but to reclaim his lost property, still referring to Caden as his "son" and even offering mercy and a promise of a return to his home... of course, under Calderon's full control. Something else to note... Caden does not remember a lot of his time under Calderon or the things he's done. If Calderon is ever able to catch Caden again, let's just say there will be some... dark memories brought back to the light, with Caden feeling intense fear or rage toward Calderon as well, but not fully understanding why.
Other Information:
Calderon died and came to Hell around the mid to late 1800s, when production around the world was starting become more widespread in factories and technology was slowly improving for warfare.
However, a lot of Calderon’s stuff was not more widely developed until the late 1900s when technology had vastly improved and more modern weapons were now around. As well as that, Calderon did not start developing his “engineered soldier army” until around the 1980s-1990s at the very earliest, as technology was still not good enough (in his opinion) for his vision of the army he wanted.
This means a lot of Calderon’s “helltech”, as he calls it, would only come a bit later. That said, Caden was one of the first to have this new tech implemented into his body (as Caden WAS a normal hellhound before getting yanked in by Calderon, his past something I’ll go into later hopefully) to ensure he was the best soldier in Calderon’s new army.
As far as Caden knows, he only remembers bits and pieces of his time under Calderon, but his memories are not all there. He can't explain some of the things he does fully, and, well... his escape did a bit more damage to him than he might think. Why he was able to break free? A simple internal glitch in the system, nothing more. Except for Caden feeling immense regret upon being ordered to take out a Sloth Ring settlement, but that is beside the point and is TOTALLY not how he was able to bypass the system...
Caden is a broken Hellhound with a dark past, under a crazy Overlord. And he plans to stay as far away from Calderon as he possibly can.
