Welcome to my homepage.

I am a philosopher working on topics at the intersection of metaphysics and ethics, such as free will, mainly but not exclusively in Kant.

Moral theory and meta-ethics are further fields of interest, and here in particular questions like objectivity and realism with regard to normativity.

I have attended Erlangen, Munich, and Oxford Universities. At Erlangen I have obtained my doctorate and habilitation in philosophy. Over the years I have conducted longer research stays and held visiting positions at, e.g., UC London, St Andrews, HU Berlin, Princeton, UC San Diego, and Notre Dame.

I am a Professor of Moral Philosophy at Keio University, Tokyo.
