Activate your Bold Smartlock device(s) from your Garmin watch. This requires a Bold Smartlock and a Bold Connect device to activate your smartlock over the internet. Your Garmin smartwatch needs access to the internet via your phone and Connect IQ or direct access to the internet (WIFI is supported, but not guaranteed to function because of the way Garmin provides WIFI functionality.)
When pressing the Start button on your smartwatch for the first time you'll be asked to login via the Bold authentication portal. Just follow the instructions in the Garmin Connect IQ app on your smartphone (see further in case you don't get a Connect IQ notification on your phone). Your Bold account needs to have the remote activation permission in the Bold smartphone app.
This is a Bold Community application and not an officially supported Bold app and Bold will not provide support for it. Bold members however have supported in the development of the app (thanks Bert and Ruud from Bold!).
Once you're authenticated, your Bold devices are retrieved. If you have more than one device (e.g. one or more smartlocks and/or a Bold Connect), you can select the device(s) you want to activate via your watch. If you select multiple devices you'll have to select the one you want to activate each time you use the app. Not all of the devices listed may be accessible via the app, e.g. if the remote activation permission is missing or the device is offline (which may be temporary). This is indicated in the selection list.
The app's configuration can be accessed via the menu (long press the Menu button on your device - this may differ from the image!), and allows you to:
Update devices to update your devices, e.g. when you added a new Bold smartlock.
Standard/Dark mode to switch between standard and dark mode.
Vibration to activate/deactivate vibration upon device activation/deactivation.
Sound fo enable/disable an sound notification upon device activation
Exit on/off to close the app automatically as soon as the device is deactivated.
Wifi to enable/disable the use of wifi if there's no connection via the phone (experimental - see further)
Bold login to trigger the Bold authentication dialog again (e.g. when you have issues).
Refresh tokens to refresh the access tokens.
Vibration, sound and wifi support depend on your device's capabilities.
Wifi support is experimental. If enabled, you'll be asked to activate wifi (if it sin't active yet) and a synchronization will be started. This actually just executes the device activation. When synchronization is complete, click the back button on your device to return to the app's screen. Device activation should already have been started. You may have issues with device activation via wifi if the tokens have to be refreshed.
Bold authenitcation failure via Connect IQ
Next to the app's menu, there's an app setting "Bold code" to manually set an access token in case the Bold login is not triggered by Connect IQ. There are two ways to retrieve the initial code:
A web-app that directs you to the Bold authentication dialog and displays the code you need to copy in the app's settings when authentication succeeded: https://boldkeys-sandbox.mxapps.io.
Manual procedure via the browser network logging on a computer: download the procedure here. Just contact me if you have issues.
Other issues and errors
Possible issues or errors are shown on your Garmin device with an icon and/or text. Errors can occur when:
Your Garmin devices is not connected to your phone or your phone has no internet connection.
The account used has no remote activation privilege (configurable in the Bold app on your smartphone).
Access tokens expired: these are refreshed automatically, but after 30 days of not using the app, they will be expired and you'll be asked to log in again in the Bold authentication portal. You can also trigger the login via the app's menu.
Your Bold device is offline.

A wide range of devices has been tested using the Garmin emulator. However, if your device is supported by the app but has issues, please contact the developer.
Note for Instinct users: for single color devices, you'll need to set the corresponding setting in the app settings to see the countdown progress while the lock is open.
