Short Biography

Jingon Joung received a B.S. in Radio Communication Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea, in 2003 and 2007. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow with KAIST, South Korea(2007) and UCLA, CA, USA(2008). He was a Scientist with the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A⋆STAR), Singapore, from 2009 to 2015, and joined Chung-Ang University (CAU), Seoul, South Korea, in 2016, as a faculty member. He is currently a Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, CAU, where he is also the Principal Investigator of the Intelligent Wireless Systems Laboratory. His research interests include wireless communication signal processing, numerical analysis, algorithms, and machine learning.

Dr. Joung was a recipient of the First Prize in the Intel-ITRC Student Paper Contest in 2006 and the Research Pioneer Award of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineering (IEIE), South Korea, in 2022. He was recognized as the Exemplary Reviewer of the IEEE Communications Letters (2012) and the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (2012, 2013, 2014, 2019). He served as the Guest/Associate Editors for several journals, including the IEEE ACCESS (2016), the Electronics (2019), the APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing (2014–2019), the Sensors (2020), and the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2018–2023). He is an inventor of a Space-Time Line Code (STLC), a fully symmetric scheme to a Space-Time Block Code.
