Short Biography
Jingon Joung received a B.S. in Radio Communication Engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at KAIST, South Korea, and UCLA, CA, USA. He was a Scientist with the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A⋆STAR), Singapore, from 2009 to 2015, and joined Chung-Ang University (CAU), Seoul, South Korea, in 2016 as a faculty member. He is currently a Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, CAU, where he also serves as the Principal Investigator of the Intelligent Wireless Systems Lab (iWSL) and the Next-generation Intelligent Sensing and Communication (NiSC) Lab. His research interests include wireless communication signal processing, numerical analysis, algorithms, and machine learning.
Dr. Joung was recognized as an Exemplary Reviewer for IEEE Communications Letters (2012) and IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (2012, 2013, 2014, 2019). He has served as Guest/Associate Editor for several journals, including IEEE Access (2016), Electronics (2019), APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing (2014–2019), Sensors (2020), and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2018–2023). He received the First Prize in the Intel Student Paper Contest in 2006 and the Research Pioneer Award from the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers (IEIE), South Korea, in 2022. He is an inventor of a Space-Time Line Code (STLC), a fully symmetric scheme for a Space-Time Block Code.
