J. Joung, Ph.D. (Assoc. Prof., SMIEEE)

Short Biography

J. Joung received the B.S. degree in radio communication engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea, in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with KAIST and UCLA in 2007 and 2008, respectively. He was a Scientist with the Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore, from 2009 to 2015. Since 2016, he has been a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chung-Ang University, Seoul, South Korea. His research interests include wireless communication systems and signal processing, numerical analysis, algorithms, and machine learning.

Dr. Joung was a recipient of the First Prize of the Intel-ITRC Student Paper Contest in 2006 and the Best Paper Award from the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences Conference in 2018 (Winter and Summer). He is recognized as the Exemplary Reviewers of the IEEE Communications Letters in 2012 and the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters in 2012 and 2013. He served as the Guest Editor for the IEEE ACCESS in 2016. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, as a Guest Editor for the MDPI Electronics, and as an Editorial Board member of the APSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing
