WishVault
Browser Extension
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how WishVault handles information when you use the WishVault browser extension. We believe in being straightforward: your data stays on your device, and we only earn money through affiliate commissions when you choose to buy something.
The short version: WishVault stores everything locally on your device. We don't collect, sell, or transmit your personal data. We may earn a small commission if you buy something through an affiliate link — at no cost to you.
1. Who We Are
WishVault is a browser extension that allows users to save, organize, and track products from online stores. It is developed and maintained as an independent project. If you have questions about this policy, you can reach us through the feedback options inside the WishVault dashboard sidebar.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide. When you save items to your wishlists, WishVault stores the following locally in your browser:
Product names, prices, images, and URLs
Store names and product categories
Notes you add to items
Wishlist names and descriptions
PIN hashes for private lists — your actual PIN is never stored, only a one-way cryptographic hash
Information collected automatically. WishVault does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. There are no analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind built into the extension.
Cookies. WishVault uses the cookies permission solely to set Steam age-verification cookies so that price and availability checks work correctly on Steam game pages. No cookies are read, stored, or transmitted for any other purpose.
3. How We Use Your Information
All data saved by WishVault remains on your device in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local or browser.storage.local). It is used exclusively to:
Display your wishlists and saved items
Auto-fill product details when adding new items
Check current prices and availability when you request it
Allow you to export and import your data as a backup file
Your data is never sent to any server operated by WishVault or any third party, except as described in Section 5 (Affiliate Links) below.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your personal data with any third parties. The only external network activity WishVault performs is:
Opening product pages in a background browser tab to read price and availability — this is a normal browser request to the retailer's website, identical to you visiting the page yourself
Sending affiliate-tagged URLs to retailer websites when you click "View product" (see Section 5)
Opening Google Forms when you submit bug reports or feature suggestions — any information you choose to enter in those forms is subject to Google's Privacy Policy
5. Affiliate Links & Commissions
WishVault participates in affiliate advertising programs. When you click the "View product" button on a saved item from a participating retailer, WishVault may append an affiliate tracking tag to the URL before opening it.
This means:
The retailer's website may record that you arrived via an affiliate link
If you make a purchase during that browsing session, WishVault may earn a small commission from the retailer
This commission comes at no additional cost to you whatsoever — you pay the same price regardless
Affiliate tags are only added to URLs from participating stores — all other URLs open exactly as saved
Product prices and details displayed in WishVault are never inflated or altered

We strongly recommend exporting a backup before uninstalling the extension. Data cannot be recovered after uninstallation.
8. Children's Privacy
WishVault is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this extension in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us through the feedback options in the dashboard.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of WishVault after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
