Well-being in Sustainable Economies Revisited
How to lead satisfactory lives that are socially and environmentally sustainable
Our mission
WISER (Well-being in a Sustainable Economy Revisited) is a research project funded by the European Commission. WISER’s main objective is to develop an evidence-based, theoretically-sound, and policy-oriented new economic development framework. This framework allows for the identification of win-win-win-win (well-being, productivity, sustainability, and inclusiveness) development strategies, and it guides the design and implementation of policies towards the procurement of a sustainable and inclusive high well-being economy.
Beyond GDP framework
Development of a new economic development framework that transcends traditional GDP metrics, focusing instead on well-being, sustainability, productivity, and inclusiveness.
Comprehensive well-being approach
Integration of subjective well-being (SWB) measures to provide a holistic understanding of well-being, incorporating economic and non-economic drivers and emphasizing people's own assessments of their life satisfaction.
Multidisciplinary and Inclusive Research
Incorporation of diverse disciplines (economics, psychology, sociology, urban studies, etc.) and a strong emphasis on gender and diversity to ensure inclusive and comprehensive research and policy recommendations.
Innovative Indicators Dashboard
Creation of a people-centered dashboard to evaluate and guide economic growth processes, incorporating innovative indicators that measure sustainable well-being beyond GDP, designed through a co-creation process with stakeholders.
