The plastic waste competition is part of Wintermark, which takes place from 23 June to 4 July 2020 at
NG Kerk, Bellville-Vallei, 61 Postma Street, Oakdale.
The three prizes to be won are for the following categories:
Identify an area where there is a lot of plastic waste . Take a photo and devise a plan to clean it. The plan must include the following steps to be eligible for a substantial cash prize:
a) Get other people involved in the clean-up of the rubbish-covered area.
b) The problem area should be monitored daily for at least two months. Take a photo of the area every week.
Identify an area where a lot of plastic waste lies around. Take a photo and devise a plan to collect the plastic waste for reuse. The plan must include the following steps to be eligible for a substantial cash prize:
a) Make an artwork from the collected plastic waste.
b) Tell the story of where the plastic waste was collected and how it was reused.

a) Make a consumer item from the collected plastic waste. It must be possible to replicate the item and sell it.
b) Tell the story of where the plastic waste was collected and how the consumer item was made. The original product must be ready for viewing.
