Jordan & Kahea Ilae
I am Kahea and I get to be mama to Jordan. Jordan is a cancer survivor and after a traumatic brain injury during chemo treatments is relearning skills to gain her independence. In the meantime she is leading an exciting life exploring her community and having fun with her friends.
As a co-facilitator of Ho’omana it is my goal to empower families and caregivers to be mindful advocates as they navigate through the many transitions that occur along the way. I have the unique opportunity of being both the parent of an individual with a disability, as well as an educator whose primary focus is post-high school transition.
Ho’omana is a special and safe space for caregivers to talk, connect, and share. It is through our collective experiences and our sense of community that we can remember we are not alone in the journey. There’s nothing like being with people who understand. Come be empowered with us.
Aloha Ho'omana family,
My name is Sara Henry and I was given the honor of being a facilitator for this group because I have two babies on the spectrum. Jacee and Kingston are both teens (where did the time go!), and they refer to me as Mama Sara. They blessed my life in 2011, when my husband, Copensky and I met. It has been a journey. Navigating the DOE, DDD, adoption, SSI, and of course meltdowns. We also just welcomed Cara to our family, a whole new adventure we are so excited about! We also have three pups, Margarita, Johnson, and Apollo, that play a huge roll in our lives. We all have our unique relationship with each of them. I joined Ho'omana group as a parent looking for support and guidance and found so much more. I am here to help you on your journey as well as continue to get insight about my own. I look forward to meeting each of you!
