Things to consider:
-Things will be DIFFERENT
-Normal routines and schedules will be OFF for your child
-Food will be limited to what is offered and on hand
-Lots of DOWN TIME
*DO YOU NEED TO HAVE A BAG WITH SOMEONE ELSE?
-Clothes; include sleep clothes, and extra shoes such as rubber slippers
Highly suggest you pack clothes that are very comfortable as stress will be increased due to conditions. (I use old favorites like Power Rangers, and clothes with no tags)
-Medications in bottles labeled with dates (you may need to ask your physician for a separate prescription just for this purpose; monitor meds for expiration)
-Flashlight/Mini Lantern: for use at night and in case of power outages
-Toiletries: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, bath towel, hand towel and washcloth.
-Any specialized medical equipment
-Pad of paper and pens/pencils for making visuals, schedules and social stories; this can help them to cope with the many changes to their daily routine and disruption to their normal life.
SUGGESTED ITEMS TO PACK:
-iPad or other devices; Extra chargers for devices (phones, devices)
-Back up battery chargers (charged and ready) for devices, especially communication
-Favorite blanket or bedding item
-Quiet activities your child enjoys (small puzzles, coloring books, paper, crayons, etc.)
-Non perishable snacks and food items that are highly preferred
