You can change auto-update options by changing your settings within the Product account information. In very limited cases, updates may still be automatically applied, regardless of the auto-update setting. For example, we may provide an automatic update that fixes a security breach or vulnerability to your network. We may also provide you with updated Software data files automatically to benefit you, such as to provide you with updated device information to identify new devices in your network. These data files do not update your firmware but consist of Software files that are cached on your Product and override older files. By agreeing to this Agreement, you agree to automatic updates.
When an 802.11 wireless network adapter that is set to use power save mode wants to enter a sleep state, the adapter indicates this intention to the wireless AP. The adapter does this by setting the power save option in its packets or in the 802.11 frames that it sends to the wireless AP. In this scenario, the following behavior should occur:
This behavior enables the wireless network adapter to use less power and to wake up periodically at the correct time to receive network traffic from the AP.
If the wireless AP does not support this feature correctly, the wireless AP continues to send packets to the client network adapter even if the client network adapter radio is turned off. Therefore, these packets are lost. In this scenario, the symptoms that you experience may vary depending on the phase of the wireless connection in which these packets are lost.
When you plug the mobile PC into a power source, Windows switches the wireless network adapter power setting in the default power plan from the Medium Power Saving setting to the Maximum Performance setting. This turns off the 802.11 power save mode.

If you choose to modify the default On battery power saving setting by setting it to Maximum Performance, this change affects the Balanced power saving mode and the running time of the computer when it runs on battery power. This change reduces the battery time by between approximately two percent and nine percent running time.
Note This change may not be reflected in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) versions of Windows that may be installed on mobile PCs. Computer manufacturers may change the default Windows power settings according to their guidelines.
You may also experience this issue when you connect to a Wi-Fi hot spot by using a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer. This issue is less likely to occur in Windows XP because the default power saving mode in Windows XP does not turn on the 802.11 power save mode of the wireless network adapter. However, if you do experience this issue in Windows XP, you can modify the power saving settings of the wireless network adapter to work around this issue. To do this, follow these steps:

I have the exact same issue. It won't show up on the list of available networks of my laptop. It has windows 10 too. It shows and works fine in other devices (laptops, cellphones, tablets). I don't know what to do about it
After installing the T-Mobile Gateway Gray Kit I was unable to see the SSID name in the list of available networks on my 2017 HP Laptop running Windows 10, but everything else in the house connected, since I renamed Gateway to the previous router SSID name. I searched the type of wireless adapter I have in laptop, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265, and visited Intel site to update Wireless adapter Driver to the latest for my device, 19.51.33.1. After the update I am able to see the Gateway SSID and laptop connects.

DriverEasy is free to use but has some restrictions unless you upgrade, one being the download speed limit of up to 80KB/s.
Download the Ethernet or wireless driver, if you are going to download more than one, they can be downloaded in turn. The resulting driver file will likely be a setup executable or a zip containing a setup file or a batch script. Copy/extract the file(s) to the target computer and execute to install the driver. Both our missing drivers were found which would have been a big help to getting online.
Final Note: While the above methods are useful if you have a system without a network driver installed, you can obviously choose to backup your driver first if you are still using the operating system before a reinstall. Something like Double Driver or Driver Backup! would be good programs to try. Another option is trying a Windows PE distro which might have compatible network drivers already integrated allowing you to go online and download third party network drivers or even one of the tools above without needing another internet enabled computer.

Take your computer back in time if the issue started recently and none of the fixes above resolve the problem. Running a system restore will remove recently installed programs or drivers that may be conflicting with your network adapter driver.
