Most of the settings you'll want to change in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 are in PC settings. You'll find settings for screen resolution, adding and removing devices, personalizing the lock screen, changing the date and time, and adding user accounts.

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Search (or if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search), enter PC settings in the search box, and then tap or click PC settings.

Launching to the Settings app is an important part of writing a privacy-aware app. If your app can't access a sensitive resource, we recommend providing the user a convenient link to the privacy settings for that resource. For more info, see Guidelines for privacy-aware apps.

Alternatively, your app can call the LaunchUriAsync method to launch the Settings app. This example shows how to launch to the privacy settings page for the camera using the ms-settings:privacy-webcam URI.

At some point, you may want to adjust your computer's settings. For example, you might want to change your desktop background or modify your Internet settings. You can change these settings and more from the Control Panel.

However, in Windows 10, the Control Panel has mostly been replaced by the Settings app. The Control Panel is still available, but most of the tasks and settings are now also located in the Settings app.

You'll also be able to change the settings for different applications on your computer. You will usually find application settings under File > Options, Tools > Options, or within a separate Settings menu. Keep in mind that the location will vary, and some applications may not have any settings you can change.

The Settings app exposed a very small portion of Windows Control Panel's functionality. Over time, however, it has become the sole user interface and control point for Windows Update (removed from Control Panel) and Windows Hello (never added to Control Panel). The app categorizes its settings by function, just as the Control Panel did since Windows XP. Unlike the Control Panel, however, it does not offer a unified mode in which the bulk of all available settings assail the app window in a contextually haphazard fashion.[1]

On Windows 11, the app has undergone a significant visual redesign, with a new layout, greater translucency, and refreshed icons, following the Fluent Design System. A persistent navigation sidebar has also been added, linking to various groupings of settings within the app[10] (This new design looks somewhat similar to that of modern macOS's System Settings app,[11] formerly System Preferences, which has also added a persistent navigation sidebar.)

In most cases, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) automaticallyconfigures your system to use the IP addresses of your ISP's domain nameservers. To use Google Public DNS, you need to explicitly change the DNSsettings in your operating system or device to use the Google Public DNS IPaddresses. The procedure for changing your DNS settings varies according tooperating system and version (Windows, Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS) or the device(computer, phone, or router). We give general procedures here that might notapply for your OS or device; consult your vendor documentation for authoritativeinformation.

Before you change your DNS settings to use Google Public DNS, be sure to writedown the current server addresses or settings on a piece of paper. It is veryimportant that you keep these numbers for backup purposes, in case you need torevert to them at any time.

DNS servers are typically specified under advanced Wi-Fi settings. However, asevery mobile device uses a different user interface for configuring DNS serversettings, we provide only the generic procedure. For more information, please consult your mobile provider's documentation.

If you had not previously configured any customized DNS servers, to switch backto your old settings, in the window in which you specified the Google IPaddresses, select the option to enable obtaining DNS server addressesautomatically, and/or delete the Google IP addresses. This reverts your settingsto using your ISP's default servers.

Application customizations and Windows settings that are saved to the Windows user profile folder or the user registry hive can be set as defaults. When you save the default settings by using the Template User in Image Assistant, AppStream 2.0 replaces the Windows default user profile with the profile that you configure. The Windows default user profile is then used to create the initial settings for users in the fleet instance. If the application or Windows settings that you configure don't work in the fleet, confirm that they are saved in the Windows user profile. For more information, see Step 3: Create Default Application and Windows Settings in Tutorial: Create a Custom AppStream 2.0 Image by Using the AppStream 2.0 Console.

Additionally, you can modify or disable Internet Explorer security settings, such as Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC). For more information, see Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.

Get the most out of your favorite apps like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Application-specific settings let you customize buttons on MX Master 3, MX Anywhere 3 or ERGO M575 mice. Start or stop your Zoom video with the forward button, or press the back button to mute/unmute the mic. Customize your buttons for each of the apps you use.

This reset option will reinstall the Windows operating system and preserve your personal files, such as photos, music, videos, and personal documents. It will remove installed applications and drivers, as well as revert any changes you made to the settings.

This is a highly comprehensive reset operation as it will replace the current Windows settings with a fresh setup. User accounts, files, settings, ASUS pre-installed software, and Windows Store applications will be deleted.

The Resources tab allows you to configure CPU, memory, disk, proxies, network, and other resources.Different settings are available for configuration depending on whether you areusing Linux containers in WSL 2 mode, Linux containers in Hyper-V mode, or Windowscontainers.

If the host uses a HTTP/HTTPS proxy configuration (static or via Proxy Auto-Configuration), Docker Desktop readsthis configurationand automatically uses these settings for signing into Docker, for pulling and pushing images, and forcontainer Internet access. If the proxy requires authorization then Docker Desktop dynamically asksthe developer for a username and password. All passwords are stored securely in the OS credential store.Note that only the Basic proxy authentication method is supported so we recommend using an for your HTTP/HTTPS proxies to protect passwords while in transit on the network. Docker Desktopsupports TLS 1.3 when communicating with proxies.

If you are running Windows containers in Docker, you can allow the Windows Docker daemon to use Docker Desktop's internal proxy, with the Use proxy for Windows Docker daemon setting. This is useful when a corporate proxy that requires authentication is manually configured or set at the system level. If you are an admin for your organization and have a Docker Business subscription, you can control this setting withSettings management using the windowsDockerdPort parameter.

Pop-up windows, or pop-ups, are windows that appear automatically without your permission. They vary in size, but usually don't cover the whole screen. Some pop-ups open on top of the current Firefox window, while others appear underneath Firefox (pop-unders).

You'll need to close and re-open any command windows that were open before you made these changes, as there's no way to reload environment variables from an active command prompt. If the changes don't take effect after reopening the command window, restart Windows.

JavaScript is a scripting language used to add functions to pages, such as manipulating browser windows. In rare cases, JavaScript may be used intrusively to perform certain actions you may find annoying. For these cases, you can turn it off completely. If you do, some pages will not work as designed. To change JavaScript settings:

Opera will try to distinguish pop-ups that you have requested (login pages, for example) from pop-ups launched automatically from websites, such as advertising. By default, Opera will block pop-ups you have not requested. You can control how Opera handles pop-ups. To change pop-up settings:

Optionally, you can configure a .gitattributes file to manage how Git reads line endings in a specific repository. When you commit this file to a repository, it overrides the core.autocrlf setting for all repository contributors. This ensures consistent behavior for all users, regardless of their Git settings and environment.

Before moving on to the deployment steps, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with Duo administration concepts and features like options for applications, available methods for enrolling Duo users, and Duo policy settings and how to apply them. See all Duo Administrator documentation.

Apply the custom policy to your Microsoft RDP Duo application as a group or application policy. If you made the change in your global policy then the setting applies to all your Microsoft RDP Duo applications, unless any of them have a policy assigned with conflicting remembered Windows Logon device settings.

If you want to deploy Duo to your Windows systems but have no users complete 2FA until a specific date (after all user enrollment is complete), set the New User Policy to "Allow Access" and set the Authentication Policy to "Bypass 2FA". With these two policy settings in place users who have and who have not enrolled in Duo log in to the Windows system as usual without experiencing Duo. 006ab0faaa
