In over 3 decades of installing Windows both in a professional corporate setting and at home, I have never taken less than four hours to do a clean install of any incarnation of Microsoft Windows. It generally takes that long just install all the latest updates.

Users (specifically those who configure a family's home server) dealt with storage at two levels: Shared Folders and Disks. The only concepts relevant regarding disks was whether they had been "added" to the home server's storage pool or not and whether the disk appeared healthy to the system or not. This was in contrast with Windows' Logical Disk Manager which requires a greater degree of technical understanding in order to correctly configure a RAID array.

Windows Home Server Computer Backup automatically backs up all of the computers in a home to the server using an image-based system that ensures point-in-time-based restoration of either entire PCs or specific files and folders.[24] Complete bare-metal restores are initiated through a restore bootable CD, file based restores are initiated through the WHS client software which allows the users to open a backup and "drag and drop" files from it. This technology uses Volume Shadow Services (VSS) technology on the client computer to take an image based backup of a running computer. Because the backup operates on data at the cluster level, single instancing can be performed to minimize the amount of data that travels over the network and that will ultimately be stored on the home server. This single instancing gives the server the ability to store only one instance of data, no matter if the data originated from another computer, another file, or even data within the same file.

The system also supports Terminal Services Gateway, allowing remote control of the desktop of any Windows computer on the home network.[19][25] Currently supported systems are those which would normally support Remote Desktop: Windows XP Professional, Tablet and Media Center editions, Windows Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate editions and Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions. The web interface also supports embedding the Remote Desktop ActiveX control, to provide remote access to home computers from within the web interface directly. Remote sessions can also connect to the Home Server console to configure the server over the internet.[19]

Integration of the file sharing service as a location for Mac OS X's Time Machine was apparently being considered,[30] but upon Mac OS X Leopard's release, Apple had removed the ability to use the SMB file sharing protocol for Time Machine backups.[31] One WHS provider, HP, provides their own plug-in with their home server line capable of Time Machine backup to a home server.[32]

How do you find ubuntu's home directory on windows? I've tried searching through windows file explorer by typing ubuntu/home nothing shows up. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for all your help in advance.

I believe I can safely assume that there is no /home directory on Windows. It probably depends on which Windows OS you are talking about. I think Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 has a /home directory, however. In case I am wrong (I probably am) I suggest waiting for another answer.

Add an account for Home Assistant Core called homeassistant.Since this account is only for running Home Assistant Core the extra arguments of -rm is added to create a system account and create a home directory.

Once you have activated the virtual environment (notice the prompt change to (homeassistant) homeassistant@raspberrypi:/srv/homeassistant $) you will need to run the following command to install a required Python package.

Start Home Assistant Core for the first time. This will complete the installation for you, automatically creating the .homeassistant configuration directory in the /home/homeassistant directory, and installing any basic dependencies.

When I have fixed the security, which I hope to get help with - which user should I use and password - on my Web access that works, I use e-mail as user and an associated password, but surely these are not the ones I should use here for home network access?

Best money I ever spent no more cold drafts coming through the windows or door. The look is outstanding and the contractor did such a great job installing. Had all the windows replaced in the entire house and the sunroom with a new sliding door.

We had warranty item for 10 years old windows and MI windows did an exceptional job starting from claim to installation.. communication and service was really great and seamless. Thank you for what you do, great job!!

Last year we had all of our windows replaced in our home that was built in 1991. Our contractor gave us several brands to choose from and we choose the Mi 1650 based on looks, features and warranty. Our 30 year home looks brand new again and is now energy efficient. No more drafty windows and fogged up glass.

Whatever the final place is, Emacs sets the internal value of theHOME environment variable to point to it, and it will use thatlocation for other files and directories it normally looks for orcreates in your home directory.

Because MS-DOS does not allow file names with leading dots, andolder Windows systems made it hard to create files with such names, the Windows port of Emacs supports an init file name _emacs, ifsuch a file exists in the home directory and .emacs does not. This name is considered obsolete, so Emacs will display a warning ifit is used.

The home path is a bit of a vestigial thing. It dates back to Windows NT, prior to the 'My Documents' directory. I believe the original intent was to provide a "Home Directory" similiar to Unix environments, but the user profile ended up (with the advent of "My Documents") being the default storage location for files (which led to the whole "redirect folders out of the user profile" functionality that came on after W2K).

"Folder Redirection" can use the legacy home path setting as the destination for redirecting the "My Documents" path. This can be handy if you have groups of users who need their "My Documents" path redirected to various server computers, as you can set a different home path on a user-for-user basis. (You can do the same thing w/ multiple group policy objects, or with a single folder redirection policy based on group membership, too.)

2- I don't know how the "local path" setting in the "Home Folder" section functions, as I have only seen that section left default, or the "Connect" setting used to map a drive letter to a network path. At my current company, we do neither, using a Kixstart login script to map a drive to a "home" folder.

In addition to limits on the amount of credit you can claim for any particular equipment installation or home improvement, there are annual aggregate limits. The overall total limit for an efficiency tax credit in one year is $3,200. This breaks down to a total limit of $1,200 for any combination of home envelope improvements (windows/doors/skylights, insulation, electrical) plus furnaces, boilers and central air conditioners. Any combination of heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and biomass stoves/boilers are subject to an annual total limit of $2,000. (Note: ENERGY STAR certified geothermal heat pumps are eligible for a separate tax credit and not counted against these limits.)

A principal residence is the home where you live most of the time. The home must be in the United States. It can include a house, houseboat, mobile home, cooperative apartment, condominium, and a manufactured home.

Read on for more about the cost of replacing windows, how to choose energy-efficient ones, available window styles and features, and important things to consider when shopping for windows. Also check out our replacement windows ratings, based on our scientific testing, to help you choose the best ones for your home.

Your actual cost for replacement windows will depend on where you live, the materials and styles you choose, and factors such as the window sizes and location. Labor is a major factor in the price: Installation typically costs from $100 to $300 per window, according to Angi, another online marketplace for local services.

We test composite, vinyl, and wood windows at Consumer Reports. You may still find some all-aluminum windows, but their popularity has declined with the development of vinyl. All of the windows in our current ratings are double-paned, with the space in between filled with insulating argon gas.

This window frame type tends to be the most expensive. The entire structure is wood. But while the interior wood can be painted or stained, the exterior is typically clad with aluminum or vinyl, which protects the outside wood from the elements and prevents rotting and insect infestation. Cladding also reduces maintenance because you never have to repaint. Many wood windows are available in a variety of exterior colors, allowing you to pick a style that matches your home.
