Affects Base Coat and MAY affect Markings

Maltese is a recessive trait, meaning a creature must have two copies of the gene for it to show up!
Maltese affects red AND black, reducing the amount of color the body is able to produce. The base coat is always diluted, markings may or may not be diluted!
Maltese dilutes skin but does not affect eyes.
In hooved creatures, the mane/tail are also diluted
The following are simple examples on Black, Brown, and Red bases, to offer an idea how mltmlt affects black, red, and agouti colors.
In a wolf agouti, for example, red areas would look like maltese on red, and black areas would look like maltese on black. In a bay agouti, the main body would look like maltese on brown.
