Swing dance is a modern umbrella term for many different social dances, including but not limited to, Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing.
Many people associate swing dance with music from the 1920's, 30's, and 40's. Over the years, both the dance styles and music have changed.
However, swing dance, particularly Lindy Hop, originates from African American dance, which emphasizes improvisation - still a major part of swing dance today!
Winchester Swing Dance is a community group that hosts swing dance lessons, open social dancing, and events, started by Kim and Jeff, who love swing dancing for fun and want to share it with our community.
Follow us here on Facebook and on Instagram (winchester_swingdance) for dance lessons, social dancing, and event information and updates.
