I am taking the third class now. I took the first class in January and I love both of them.

My instructor is only 23 but has been decorating cakes in the family bakery since 12. I have learned so much in the classes. Jo Anns has buy one get one free on Wilton classes this week. Plus you get a free carry case, not sure which one. Jo Anns has 40 and 50% off coupons all the time on line.

I bought the Ultimate decorating set for 50% off with the coupons. I think I have had a coupon of some sort or another for everything that I have bought. I now have everything I need for all 4 classes.

One of the best Christmas presents I gave to myself is taking the Wilton Cake Decorating Method classes with my mom. As a Wilton Ambassador, I had the opportunity to sign up for their classes and learn various techniques on cake decorating.

Course 1 includes lessons on how to prepare buttercream icing to the perfect decorating consistency, how to fill and use a decorating bag, how to create six different icing flowers, pipe borders, lines and letters as essential decorations and transfer images onto a cake.

If you are looking for the perfect present for someone who loves to bake but is intimidated by cake decorating (like I was!), have them try out these fun classes. Kids, just as much as adults, really enjoyed attending the class and learning everything it has to offer.

Hey everyone! When I posted on Facebook that I had signed up for the Wilton cake decorating class, I got ton of comments from people who wanted me to let them know what I thought of it. I just finished the 4 week class (taken at my local JoAnn Fabric store), and so I thought I would write a blog post giving you my thoughts. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone who is thinking about signing up for the class in the future.

Hi, I am too planning to do Wilton Course 1 coming month, heard that there are some Cake supplies they would ask us to buy can you tell me what are the other cake supplies we will need to buy for each course?

Wilton cake decorating classes are indeed fun and informative. I noticed in the comments above that only large chain stores are mentioned for classes. There are many independent stores that have Wilton Cake Decorating Class Programs. they can be found in many areas and are worth checking into as many of their employees are very familiar with the Wilton program. Compare their discounts to the larger chains and you might be surprised how close they are. When you purchase your supplies where you take your class, you support the instructor who teaches you, the store that supplies the program and product for you and Wilton Enterprises, the company that strives to grow new ideas and product for you.

The course kit practice sheets have several designs like cupcake, owl and butterfly. I printed my own design requested by LittleMiss, a Peppa Pig fairy picture. My mistake was that the photo was small and the piping methods were not defined, all I can do was tiny star and tiny dots.

I also have taken the Wilton Cake decorating classes in year 2010 and then they changed the course..so missed on the GUmpaste and Fondant class.. although my family DISLIKES fondant, I wish to learn.. Happy to follow you, do visit my space also.

Love Ash.

Thanks for dropping by.Here in Canada none of the tools are included in the course fees. The most essential items are the Student Decorating Basics Kit, 8 inch cake pan and cupcake pan.The Student Kit contains icing tips, spatula, practice board, flower nails and pastry bags. The course book was provided by the instructor.

Apart from these you will also need a pair of flower scissors, turntable and cake box but these are optional. You may use any suitable plastic/cardboard box for transporting the cake, if you do not wish to buy the cake box. The turntable is also not necessary but it helps if you have one.

Then of course you will need the ingredients for making the cake and frosting.

Hi Anita can you plz let me know if I too can learn these lovely cakes with decoration. I am residing in mumbai & wud love to learn all these tempting cakes. Plz get back to me soon. Do you hv wilton classes in mumbai too?

hey Annita, I am Aditi from Mumbai. I waned to know if there are the wilton cake decorating classes in Mumbai. I am looking for some good cake decorating class since a very long time.

please help me out.

Today was our final decorating class for Course 1. I really enjoyed class four, we learned how to make roses, sweet peas and leaves. At first they were very frustrating, but once I got the hang of it they got easier. I was very impressed with the final outcome of my cake today, first time with flowers came out pretty good.

This year for my Birthday I got something that I have always wanted, Cake Decorating Lessons, from Wilton. I really enjoy baking and decorating cakes, especially theme cakes, but I really wanted to learn some techniques and more advanced things then what I was doing.

Fortunately, I am able to do easy / basic cake decorating. I took my first Wilton cake class 16 years ago when I was a newly wed. Long story short, I am teaching the Cake Decorating Merit Badge to a group of Tenderhearts and Explorers.

Most of my professional career (20+years) has been as a public school art teacher to grades pre-K -12 and I am also a certified Wilton Method Cake Decorating Instructor. I have been teaching cake decorating classes professionally since 2015 and I would love to see you in one of my classes, bring some friends!

Sounds like a fun class. My mother used to barter cake decorating with her friend who was a cosmetologist----the friend would cut our hair, do perms for my mom, etc and my mom would decorate birthday cakes for her kids or do special occasion cakes for parties.

which type of cake/frosting is best for which use---not all types of cakes are good for tiers, for instance, and I learned the hard way that not all rough icing is equal! This may be covered in the Wilton courses, it's been a couple of decades since I took one.

I've taken a few Wilton courses (as has my 11yo dd), let me also suggest www.mycakeschool.com which has lots of tutorials. Also, Cake Central.com has images, forums, recipes, tips/techniques, A-J Winbeckler...and don't forget cake decorator expos (which have more advanced classes, contests for all ages/abilities, and vendors of all-things cake :D)

Gum paste, gelatin work & sugar work is a HUGE area for growth and experimentation. You can really do a lot -- but be forewarned, cake decorating can get expensive ;) Cookie decorating is also related. You just want a good sugar cookie base -- I use one from King Arthur Flour.

oldest dd took the Wilton Cake courses over tha last 2 summer. She had a great time doing it. Her teacher insisted they learn to make from scratch so she can make all the cakes, frosting, fondants. They used the Wilton premade for some classes, but they also used the homemade. I've counted it as an elective

Wilton began giving private cake-decorating lessons in his apartment on Chicago`s South Side in 1929. From about 1946 on, he held classes (the first one had only seven students) at various locations, beginning with an old lodge hall at 59th and Halsted Streets and moving eventually to an old post office building at 111th Street and Vincennes Avenue.

Today, Wilton Enterprises, headquartered at 2240 W. 75th St., Woodridge, still conducts cake-decorating classes in addition to publishing cake-decorating cookbooks and manufacturing more than 1,100 bakeware products, including pans, wedding ornaments and novelties.

I started to make my golf course birthday cake by baking one long, rectangular chocolate cake. Gluten-free, of course. We always use the King Arthur gluten-free chocolate cake mix and have never been disappointed.
