WilKGames is a Brunei based independent game development company founded in 2021 by Wilson Siow.
To date, WilKGames has developed a number of games which have been published to the Google Play Store. The upcoming project, 'Tikus Tales', will be the company's first full 3D game planned to be released for the PC and on gaming consoles.
WilKGames puts a focus on injecting local cultures into the games being developed.
“When people hear the word ‘video games’, those who are ignorant would probably think ‘waste of time’. Not only is this far from the truth nowadays, but with the onset of the age of digitalization, having an option to be able to utilize advancing technology for both professional and personal businesses will start to become the norm. Gone are the days when an outlet was a must have in order to get your products out there. More than ever, game development is becoming a viable career path for those who aspire it to be. Have a PC and a stable internet connection? You’re good to go!
WilKGames was founded when I realized that it was virtually unheard of for anyone to be making video games in Brunei. Our Southeast Asian counterparts have been dabbling in it with relative success. Malaysian game company Metronomik developed the critically acclaimed game ‘No Straight Roads’. Passion Republic Games from the same country developed ‘Giga Bash’, which they proudly showcased at the Tokyo Game Show. Indonesian game company Mojiken are developing ‘A Space For the Unbound’ which is already generating waves among the game development community, having won a prestigious award at the Tokyo Game Show as well. These are only a few examples.
Game development has been around for decades, and the time is nigh for Brunei to jump on the boat. WilKGames was set up for the purpose of this. My motivation is simple: I seek to develop games that will put Brunei on the map, and I seek to inspire future generations.”
