Learn to Code, and Change the World

Researching Your Topic (Tuesday)

Welcome to Maddie's Virtual Classroom!

I am so excited because I have a really fun project planned for us over the next 5 weeks. Be sure to visit the Afterschool page everyday to keep working on this project. In my virtual classroom, we will practice prototyping, design thinking, research, and even digital citizenship.

I cannot wait to see what you create, and I’m here to help guide you along the way.

Coding Warm Up!

Worldbuilding is the process of building an imaginary world, sometimes associated with an entire fictional universe! In books, authors will often use worldbuilding to capture the attention of the reader and immerse them into an imaginary world.

Did you know that you can use code to build imaginary worlds?

Today we will practice our coding with Minecraft Voyage Aquatic, brought to you by Hour of Code and code.org. Click the button below to start coding.

Essential Questions:

  1. What are the different methods you can use for conducting research?

  2. How do you decide what methods make sense for your project?

Part 1: Watch the video below

If you are new to this class, be sure to check out the activities from Week 1 first. We are building our own research projects, and we'd love to have you join us. Visit Lesson 1 to start.
