Fabric Scrap Crafts

Learn how to make fun creations using fabric scraps.

Fabric Letters

You can use scrap pieces of fabric to create letters.

  1. Cut out the letters from materials like cardboard

  2. Then, glue on pieces of fabric until it’s completely covered.

These can then be used to create messages or names on bedroom walls, and are a great way to add some inexpensive decor to your child’s room.

Fabric Flowers

You can also make a bouquet of flowers using fabric.

  1. Roll a piece of fabric together and secure it using a rubber band. This will be your main flower (like the pink one to the right).

  2. Start adding folding other fabrics to create leaves.

The more fabric you use, the bigger your bouquet will be!

Stitched Up Heart

Gather your fabric scraps together to create a patchwork heart.

  1. To start, use the fabric pieces to create two hearts of the same size.

  2. Then, you can sew these together and add stuffing for shape (if you have it). Large stitching can also add some character.

Pillow Friends

Just like the heart project, you’ll want to start these pillow friends by creating two mirror image copies of the same shape.

  1. On one side (the front), you can add touches such as pom-poms or buttons to create features like eyes.

  2. Before sewing them up completely, be sure to add plenty of stuffing to really bring your stuffed creature to life. It's okay if you don't have stuffing! What else might you use?

  3. Sew the pieces of fabric together
