Events

We are delighted to share the 2019 events schedule with you. We've put together this schedule so everyone gets a chance to enjoy as much as possible. Having said that, it's meant to be flexible, so if people want to arrange something in between times, or just chill out, that's fine too.

If you would like to run your own event and you'd like us to mention it, please email us at wildnorthuk@gmail.com.

All events may be subject to change. All times are approximate. All meals are in the Red Room. All your nuts are belong to Twizell.

10am - Falconry

Birds of prey have captured our imaginations for centuries. And thanks to our friends at Walworth Castle Birds of Prey, we'll have a selection of these stunning animals on display just for us. Owls, hawks and falcons against our stunning castle backdrop... how very fitting.

Twizell Toasties (TBC)

3pm - Kubb Tournament

Outside - run by Tyde

What is Kubb, I hear you ask? In short, it's Viking lawn chess. Form your war-party of three, take down your opponents' pieces before aiming for the King. And yes, there will be prizes on offer.

More about kubb here.

6pm - BBQ

Weather permitting, of course!

Outside if weather is fine, in the Red Room otherwise.

8pm - Storytelling

Blue Room

As the sun sets on a Northumbrian autumn evening, Jez of the Moss Troopers will regale us with tales of the heroes, villains and legends of ancient Britain. What stories will he have in store for us? Join us and find out.

Sunday 29 September

Cooked food served during these times. Outside of these times, breakfast will be self-service.

10am - An Introduction to Puppeteering

Blue Room - run by Greenreaper

Puppetering is a key interest in our fandom, from classic Jim Henson to more modern creations such as Mongrels... not to mention our very own Pawpet Shows! In this session, Greenreaper and his friends will give an overview of puppeteering, and he'll also have a few puppets to demonstrate.

Straight after... - Trip to Beamish Museum (optional)

Beamish, the award-winning Living Museum of the North, is one of the most popular attractions in the North East. You'll soon find out why when you hop aboard a vintage tram, to visit the farm, pit village, Edwardian High Street, fun fair, traditional fish and chip shop (with more Fentiman's!), and much more.

As is tradition, we'll head here for our "Dead Dog" post-con event. Transport/car shares will be provided if you require it. Admission fees apply - currently £19.50, giving you unlimited access for 12 months.

There is a vast amount to see and do here, so we'll almost certainly stay until closing time (5pm).

This is one Dead Dog event where dabs are very much allowed!
