Wiktor Szołtysek
(born 3 November 1925 in Wyry, died 21 November 1971 Gostyń) – husband of Tusia, father of Henryk and Jan
Before World War 2 Wiktor attended schools in Wyry and Gostyń, in 1939 at the age of almost 14 he witnessed German invasion of his village. In 1940, when he was 15 he was forcefuly conscripted to the Reich Labour Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst; RAD), and in 1943 to Wehrmacht. He deserted the German Army in 1944 while on the front in Italy. He joined the Polish Army in Italy and took part in the liberation of Bologna. He returned in 1947 to Poland, got married in 1950 witrh Marta Świerkot. He passed away in 1971 after long suffering from Multiple Sclerosis
Jan Szołtysek, P.Eng., MBA
Jan graduated with a master's degree in controls engineering from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, and an MBA from the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers in Ontario, Canada. Jan works as a controls engineer in the machine building industry.
His areas of interest include science, history and Christian apologetics. He is on the board of directors of the Toronto chapter of Reasons to Believe (reasons.org), a Ministry dedicated to proclaiming the Christian gospel through the exploration of the harmony in nature and the Scripture.
Jan was born in 1957 in Mikołów, Poland, and for several years lived with his grandparents in Gostyń Śląska at the house where his father had been brought up. Later, the family settled in Mikołów, after which they moved to Ruda Śląska and to Katowice.
He has lived in Canada since 1987 with his wife and three sons.
Henryk Szołtysek, Ph.D
Henryk was born in 1953 in Mikołów. He holds a master’s degree in pharmacy and a doctorate in toxicology. His professional career included management of Forensic Toxicology Unit in the Silesian Medical University, and many years of contribution in the pharmaceutical industry.
Over the years he held sales and marketing positions with companies like Ciba and Novartis Pharma Corporation. He is presently a consultant in the area of healthcare policy.
His interests include history of the region of Upper Silesia in Poland and genealogy.
He currently lives with his wife in Mikołow, Poland
