WiFi Analyzer Pro ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our WiFi Analyzer Pro application ("the App") for macOS.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 WiFi Network InformationThe App scans and collects information about nearby WiFi networks, including:- Network names (SSID)- Network identifiers (BSSID)- Signal strength (RSSI in dBm)- Channel information- Frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz)- Security protocols (WPA3, WPA2, WPA, WEP, Open)- Network availability and connection status
This information is collected using Apple's CoreWLAN framework and is necessary for the App's core functionality.
1.2 Location Services PermissionThe App requires Location Services permission to display WiFi network names (SSIDs) as required by macOS. This permission is requested solely for the purpose of accessing SSID information. The App does not collect, store, or use your precise location data. We use reduced accuracy location services (kCLLocationAccuracyReduced) and do not track your geographic location.
1.3 Application PreferencesThe App stores the following preferences locally on your device using UserDefaults:- Auto-scan settings- Scan interval preferences- Notification preferences
1.4 Scan HistoryThe App maintains a local scan history of up to 100 entries in device memory. This history includes:- Scan timestamps- Network count per scan- Current network information
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
2.1 Local Processing OnlyAll WiFi network information is processed entirely on your device. The App performs network analysis, channel recommendations, security analysis, and diagnostics locally without transmitting any data to external servers.
2.2 Purpose of Data CollectionWe collect WiFi network information solely to:- Display available WiFi networks- Analyze signal strength and quality- Provide channel recommendations- Detect security vulnerabilities- Compare network performance- Generate diagnostic reports- Export network data (at your request)
2.3 No Data TransmissionThe App does not transmit, upload, or share any collected information to external servers, third-party services, or cloud storage. All data remains on your device.
3. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
3.1 Local StorageAll data collected by the App is stored locally on your device:- WiFi network information is stored in device memory during active use- Application preferences are stored in UserDefaults- Scan history is maintained in device memory (maximum 100 entries)- Exported files (CSV, JSON, PDF) are saved only to locations you explicitly choose
3.2 Data Retention- WiFi network information is cleared when you close the App- Scan history is maintained in memory while the App is running (maximum 100 entries)- Application preferences persist until you change or uninstall the App- Exported files remain in the locations you choose until you delete them
3.3 No Cloud StorageThe App does not use cloud storage services. All data remains on your local device.
4. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
4.1 No Third-Party SharingWe do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any information collected by the App to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
4.2 No External ServersThe App does not communicate with external servers. All network analysis and processing occurs entirely on your device.
4.3 Export FunctionalityThe App provides export functionality (CSV, JSON, PDF formats) that allows you to save network analysis data to locations you choose. This export is entirely under your control, and we do not have access to exported files.
5. PERMISSIONS REQUIRED
5.1 Location ServicesThe App requires Location Services permission to access WiFi network names (SSID) as required by macOS system requirements. This permission is used solely for SSID access and not for location tracking.
5.2 Network AccessThe App requires network access permissions to scan for WiFi networks using Apple's CoreWLAN framework.
5.3 File AccessThe App requires file access permission only when you choose to export data. The App can only access files in locations you explicitly select.
6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
6.1 Permission ControlYou can revoke Location Services permission at any time through macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Note that revoking this permission will prevent the App from displaying WiFi network names (SSIDs).
6.2 Data Control- You can clear scan history by closing and reopening the App- You can modify application preferences at any time through the App's Settings- You can delete exported files at any time- You can uninstall the App at any time, which will remove all locally stored preferences
6.3 No Account RequiredThe App does not require account creation or registration. No personal information is collected or associated with your identity.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us immediately.
8. DATA SECURITY
8.1 Local ProcessingAll data processing occurs locally on your device using Apple's secure frameworks (CoreWLAN, CoreLocation). We do not transmit data over networks, reducing security risks.
8.2 No External TransmissionSince no data is transmitted to external servers, there is no risk of data interception during transmission.
8.3 Sandbox ProtectionThe App operates within macOS App Sandbox, which provides additional security and isolation from other applications and system resources.
9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
