1. Introduction
WiFi Channel & Password (the “App”) is developed and published by WiFi Channel & Password. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, why it is collected, how it is used, with whom it is shared, and your choices. The policy is designed to meet Google Play requirements and applicable privacy laws.
2. Summary (short, plain language)
Most App features (Wi-Fi scans, channel graphs, password generator, ping and port scans) run locally on your device and do not send your Wi-Fi credentials or scan results off your device by default.
The App requests only the permissions required to provide its features (Wi-Fi, network, and location-related permissions).
Android Developers
3. What information we collect & why
A. Data collected automatically on your device (local scans)
Wi-Fi network details: SSID, BSSID, channel, frequency band, signal strength (RSSI), and security type — used to show available channels, channel graphs, channel ratings, and signal strength.
Local network discovery: local IP addresses, hostnames, and MAC addresses of devices on the same LAN when you run “Who uses my Wi-Fi” — used only to display connected devices.
Network diagnostics: ping test results, port scanner results, and speed test measurements (upload/download speeds, latency) — used to display diagnostic results.
All of the above scans and diagnostics are performed on your device when you start the respective feature. They remain on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.

B. Data you provide voluntarily
Crash reports, diagnostics, screenshots, or feedback you send to support.
Optional profile or display name if you create one in-app.
C. Permissions (Android)
The App may request the following runtime permissions to operate correctly:
NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES (Android 13+) or ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION (older APIs) — required to scan and list nearby Wi-Fi networks where Android requires location permission for Wi-Fi scanning.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / CHANGE_WIFI_STATE — to read current Wi-Fi connection and perform permitted connection operations.
INTERNET — required for optional features that use online servers (speed test servers), cloud-backup, or ads.
We only request permissions necessary for the feature the user explicitly invokes. If you deny a permission, related features will not function.

4. How we use data
We use data to:
Provide and operate the App’s core features (channel graphs, available channels, signal strength, speed test, ping/port scanner, device discovery).
Improve the App (aggregate analytics, crash reports if you opt in).
Troubleshoot support requests when you voluntarily send logs or diagnostics.
We do not use or store router passwords; the App’s password generator creates passwords locally and does not collect your existing Wi-Fi passwords.
5. Data sharing & third parties
We will not sell your personal data. We may share data in these limited circumstances:
Service providers: third-party services used to deliver analytics, crash reporting, hosting, or ads (e.g., Firebase, AdMob). These providers receive only the minimum data required to operate their service (example: aggregated usage or anonymized crash logs). If you need the exact vendor list, contact us at the support email and we will provide it.
Legal requirements: when required by law or to protect our rights.
With your consent: when you explicitly ask us to share data (for example, sending diagnostic logs to support or uploading a speed test report).
If the App displays ads, ad partners may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data as described in their policies. You can opt out of personalized ads using your device settings.

6. Data retention & storage
Data produced by scans, tests, and diagnostics is stored locally on your device and retained until you delete it or uninstall the App.
If you opt into cloud backup or account sync, uploaded data will be stored on our servers and retained according to our server retention policy; contact support for specifics.
7. Security
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, secure storage practices) to protect data. However, no system is completely secure. If a breach affecting user data occurs, we will comply with applicable notification requirements.
8. Children
The App is intended for users aged 13+ (or the minimum age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the required minimum age. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to decline certain data processing (e.g., analytics). To exercise these rights, contact [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with a clear description of your request. We will respond according to applicable law.
10. Location & background location use
If the App requests location permissions, it is solely to enable Wi-Fi scanning as required by Android. We do not collect or use background location except where a specific feature clearly requires it and you grant explicit permission; background location access will be requested only when needed and only for a single declared feature that is central to the app’s core functionality, in line with Google policies.

11. International data transfers
If data is transferred or stored outside your country, we will take reasonable steps to ensure an adequate level of protection in accordance with applicable law (e.g., contractual safeguards).
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, the “Effective date” at the top will be updated and we will publish the revised policy in-app. For significant changes we will try to notify users in-app where practicable.
13. Google Play compliance & Data Safety
We will provide accurate answers to the Google Play Data safety form and keep it in sync with this policy. The Play Console privacy field and the in-app policy together must fully disclose how the App accesses, collects, uses, and shares user data.

14. Examples tied to App features (quick reference)
Time graph / Channel graph / Channel rating / Available channel: Uses on-device Wi-Fi scan results (SSID, BSSID, RSSI, channel).
Speed test: Uses test servers to measure upload/download/latency; results shown locally unless you explicitly share them.
Signal strength / Connected Wi-Fi by near: Uses device Wi-Fi state; no passwords collected.
Who uses my Wi-Fi: Performs a LAN scan and lists connected devices (local IPs, device names, MAC addresses) discovered on your network.
Password generator: Generates passwords locally and does not transmit or store existing passwords.
Ping test & Port scanner: Network probes run from your device; results remain local unless you export them.
