Do you want to share your iPhone's internet connection with another computer, phone, or tablet? When you set up tethering or create a hotspot on your iPhone, you can easily use your mobile data plan to get your Windows PC, Mac, or other devices online. Once you turn on tethering, just connect your other devices to the iPhone using Wi-Fi, a USB cable, or Bluetooth. This wikiHow article teaches how to activate internet tethering on your iPhone. Not all cellular plans support tethering and some providers charge a fee to use hotspots.

Expert Trick: If you're not getting a very good signal while you're tethering, try moving your phone higher up to make sure there's nothing impeding the signal. For instance, you might put it on a stack of books or on top of your bookshelf to get a stronger connection.

Wifi Tethering Iphone

Settings --> personal hotspot Seems to be a single ON/OFF for all three types of hotspot connections (wifi, bluetooth, USB). Is there any way to leave USB Hotspot ON, and turn OFF wifi, bluetooth Hotspot?

I had seen the separate wifi option directly under settings... but I thought that would only affect the IPhone latching onto other Wifi hotspots. It did not occur to me, that turning wifi off there would also prevent the Iphone from being a wifi hotspot when personal hotspot is enabled.

YOGYAKARTA - WiFi Hotspot tethering using a cellphone is a common thing these days. Users usually use their cellphones as hotspots so that other devices such as laptops and computers can connect to the internet.

By activating WiFi Hotspot tethering, it means that the user has opened access to an internet connection on your phone, via a wireless network. Almost all smartphones including the iPhone can be used as a hotspot.

Basically the WiFi Hotspot tethering feature works by turning your phone into a hotspot that can provide an internet connection via a WiFi network. The internet connection provided comes from an active cellular data plan on your phone.

For a number of phones, especially Android phones, the WiFi Hotspot tethering menu usually automatically appears in the network settings, so users can easily activate it. However, for iPhone phones, the menu usually doesn't appear, so users have to activate it in a more complicated way.

If the "Personal Hotspot" option has appeared, you can already use your iPhone as a WiFi Hotspot tethering to open the internet network to various other devices that activate the WiFi menu and find out your hotspot network password.

I know a lot of people have had issues with their GoPro setup. I've gotten mine to work consistently and wanted to share incase my setup could help someone else. None of the softball fields we go to have wifi access. But this setup will allow you a work around for that by boosting an iPhone's hotspot signal using a portable router.

As most of you iPhone users know, the iPhone hotspot has a very weak signal. For example, my GoPro rarely ever sees my iPhone's hotspot. And if it does, it never connects to it. I have yet to see a straight connection from a GoPro to an iPhone hotspot (not saying someone else hasn't made it work but I have not when there is no wifi already present).

Now since the iPhone is connected to the portable router, the router can share my hotspot data using the routers wifi. I created a ssid network within the router - let's call the network "MyPortableRouterWifi". At this point, I have an iPhone supplying the internet to my portable router which is then broadcasting a wifi network of "MyPortableRouterWifi" to be shared by any device (think GoPro) who knows the wifi password.

I came up with this setup over the course of the past couple of days. And so far, it's been amazing. I can now consistently live stream and record to GameChanger using a GoPro and an iPhone when there is no wifi already present at the softball fields. Now I can use my phone while watching the game too. Plus with the portable router, I don't have sit close to the GoPro, I can sit a long the foul line by first or third base and everything will work great.

When I try to connect my ubuntu with iphone's personal hotspot it won't connect in certain times, But sometimes it will recognize the device and connect to WiFi but it will automatically disconnect in 10 min or 15 min or so. I have no trouble with Android Phones,I have checked with Samsung, Oppo and Vivo everything is working fine, but iPhone has some problems

Since USB tethering was not working ive had to resort to wifi hotspot instead. This connects just fine and works fine for approx 10-20 min. Then the connection drops and i have to toggle wifi hotspot on the phone to get it to re-connect.

The problem is that iOS15 only supports Hotspot wifi connections that have WPA3 encryption. With the update to iOS15 iPhones/iPads will not allow Hotspot connections to any device that has only WPA2/WPA encryption - which older laptops used.

for Surface Pro 3 laptops - the default wifi driver does not allow for WPA3 connection. BUT you can see the fix at the Apple Communities

The driver can be updated by following the suggestion there.

We Shouldn't be forced into purchasing a Wifi USB adaptor that supports WPA3 or going back to using a USB cord. This is crazy, Apple is a global organisation with billions in profits even throughout covid. It is not ok that we cannot roll back IOS upgrades. It is not acceptable! My wifi hotspot was working perfectly until the IOS 15 update. Now my ***** smart phone will not even turn back on. This is just not good enough Apple.

I have a Windows 10 PC without a network interface card that I want to connect to my home wifi. Is there any way to use my iPhone (ios 15.2.1) and a USB cable to connect my PC to wifi via the phone? I don't want to jailbreak my phone.

we are in the same boat: non apple hardware box under linux wants to talk to iOS over a peer to peer wifi link similar to how WiTap is doing it, without using inftrastructure wifi or converting either the box or the iOS device into a hotspot. bluetooth is not available in our box. is it possible these days (early 2017)?

We have multiple iPhones, an android phone, multiple tablets, laptops, computers, audio amplifiers, wireless speakers, printers (including a Canon), and other devices connected to the wifi with no problem.

Just as it should, except the R5 refuses to work with my wifi even though I can verify it can communicate with router by either using WPS and the router saying it successfully added the device or by connecting another way and using IP scanner to verify manually assigned IP and mac address are in fact connected to router.

Anyone else having this problem? I see a lot who the camera gets hung up scanning for networks but not the specific problem I am having. Surely someone else has a Linksys router and is trying to connect the R5. Is it just this brand of wifi router? Some configuration setting? But everything from a decade old wireless Klipsch speakers and Yamaha amplifiers to older and newer iPads, iPhones, android phones, laptops, computers etc. will all connect just fine. Why not the R5?

Thank you for the thought but as outlined above the problem is not connecting to the wifi. The R5 does that and I already confirmed IP and MAC. The problem is the error code that it throws 100% of the time when following the instructions if connected to the wifi. It gets to a point in the process and throws an error message related to network settings.

But I have spent hours trying to get it to connect via wifi rather than mobile hotspot and 100% of the time it throws the err 125 which says to check network settings. I have removed and added back network connections, etc.

So I need to be able to connect to and utilize wifi at home, office, or on location without relying on cell phone mobile hotspot unless absolutely necessary in some location where wifi is not an option.

I guess I will try uninstalling EOS Utility, restarting computer, reinstalling. I have not done that yet because I have the latest version and it works with my 1DX Mark III, 1DX Mark II, 5D Mark IV. I don't really see how EOS Utility impacts image.Canon but I do see on forums that some people have issues connecting to the network with the R5 unless they uninstall and reinstall EOS Utility. Continuous scanning isn't my issue nor is the ability to actually connect to the wifi network.

So no change after uninstalling and reinstalling Canon Utilities. The R5 still refuses to use the same wifi network that it recognizes and will connect to with Canon EOS Utilities when using image.Canon. So I am still forced to use the iPhone or iPad hotspot to transfer photos.

When I go back to the Network screen the iPhone shows as a locked option, but when I tap on it to enter the password, nothing happens. The password is 13 characters in length, but there is way to enter it. Then there is a message at the top of the page saying I'm offline and to connect to the internet to take payments. After a couple of minutes the terminal reverts back to our home wifi and auto connects.

I can not get a straight answer on this in searches. Can you use an iPhone hotspot as a WAN connection to a ubiquiti air router and have it serve up wifi from the router? I know other and newer versions of the router can do tethering via the USB port but this one can not.

If tethering is done over WLAN, the feature may be branded as a personal hotspot or mobile hotspot, which allows the device to serve as a portable router. Mobile hotspots may be protected by a PIN or password. The Internet-connected mobile device can act as a portable wireless access point and router for devices connected to it.[1]

Many mobile devices are equipped with software to offer tethered Internet access. Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Android (starting from version 2.2), and iOS 3.0 (or later) offer tethering over a Bluetooth PAN or a USB connection. Tethering over Wi-Fi, also known as Personal Hotspot, is available on iOS starting with iOS 4.2.5 (or later) on iPhone 4 or iPad (3rd gen), certain Windows Mobile 6.5 devices like the HTC HD2, Windows Phone 7, 8 and 8.1 devices (varies by manufacturer and model), and certain Android phones (varies widely depending on carrier, manufacturer, and software version).[2] ff782bc1db
