Hello, my name is Brian Wiedmer, and I am the Middle School Social Studies teacher at North Andrew R-VI in Rosendale, MO. I am currently in my 17th year of teaching. For my first 6 years of teaching, I taught 7-12 Social Studies at Craig R-III in Craig, MO. I am currently in my 11th year of teaching at North Andrew. In 2020, I was nominated as a candidate for the Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year. In 2022, I was the NHD Missouri Junior Division nominee for the Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year.
Along with my teaching duties, I am also the Middle School Student Council Sponsor, National History Day Advisor, and Head High School Scholar Bowl Coach. 2025 Missouri Class 1 State Champions.
I live in Saint Joseph, MO, but I grew up in the small town of Troy, KS. I attended Highland Community College to earn my Associate's degree in Secondary Education. I then transferred to Missouri Western State University, earning my Bachelor's degree in history education. In 2016, I earned my Master of Education degree from William Woods University.
I believe that teaching is the most important job in the world. As a teacher, I am in charge of bringing up tomorrow's leaders. A teacher needs to prepare students for the world, with many life skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and an enlarged worldview. For a thriving democracy to occur, the people need to be educated.
In my free time, I enjoy binge-watching Netflix, watching sports, and listening to music. I am a huge fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Chicago Cubs. I am a bit geeky, especially when it comes to sci-fi. I am a huge fan of Doctor Who, along with many other sci-fi/fantasy shows and movies. One last interesting fact about myself is that I love squirrels.
Thank you,
Brian Wiedmer
