Effective date: February 8, 2026
WhyMarked (“the extension”) helps users save notes for webpages and automatically see those notes when they revisit the same page URL.
WhyMarked stores note data in chrome.storage.local on the user’s device:
url (page URL)
title (page title)
note (user-entered note text)
createdAt (ISO timestamp)
updatedAt (ISO timestamp)
WhyMarked may read the active tab URL/title when the user opens the popup, and may read the current page URL where the content script runs to show saved notes for that page.
Data is used only for the extension’s single purpose:
Save, display, edit, and delete notes for specific page URLs
Automatically show saved notes when the same page is revisited
Support note search and JSON export/import inside the extension
We do not sell user data.
We do not transfer user data to third parties except as required by law.
We do not use user data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending decisions.
WhyMarked does not execute remote code.
WhyMarked does not send note data to external servers.
WhyMarked does not require user accounts, sign-in, or cloud sync.
Data remains in browser local storage until the user edits or deletes it.
Users can remove data by deleting notes in the popup or manager page, clearing extension data in Chrome settings, or uninstalling the extension.
