Term 6 2024 Herbert Morrison Newsletter Issue 31 Thursday 20th June 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the midpoint of the term. I am delighted to share some exciting updates from our school community.
First and foremost, our commitment to learning remains unwavering, and I am thrilled to report that both inside and outside the classroom, our students are engaging in enriching educational experiences. This term has seen a record number of trips and outings designed to enhance and support your child's learning journey. From nursery students exploring the wonders of nature right on our doorstep to our adventurous Year 5 and 6 students who recently returned from an exhilarating weekend of abseiling, paddle boarding, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Looking ahead, we have a vibrant array of events planned for the remainder of the term. Your continued support is invaluable in ensuring these events are successful and memorable for all involved; starting with Sports Day tomorrow.
As the weather warms up, we have noticed an abundance of lost property accumulating, including coats and shoes! Moving forward please ensure that all items are clearly named. Any unclaimed items will unfortunately need to be disposed of at the end of term. I encourage you to check the lost property to reclaim any belongings that may belong to your child.
Please continue to support the school uniform policy and ensure your child is wearing school shoes with their uniform and only wearing trainers with their PE kit.
Lastly, on behalf of the entire school community, I extend warm wishes to all those who have just celebrated Eid. We hope that this festive occasion brang joy, peace, and prosperity to your families. We look forward to celebrating with you at the Eid Fair tomorrow after school.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can make this term a resounding success.
Kind regards,
Mrs Peake - Headteacher

Football’s European Championship is now well underway, and this huge event could potentially get children interested in having a go on the pitch themselves – or perhaps they’re already passionate about sport. It could present a great opportunity to get young people engaged in physical activity and regular exercise, which has proven positive impacts on all facets of their health – including mental and emotional wellbeing.
With all that said, it can sometimes be difficult to get children and young people motivated to take part in sports and other exercise, but there are certainly ways to do so. This guide provides you with some top tips from our expert on how to encourage young people to stay active and remain invested in their physical welfare.
The lunch menus are on a 3 week rota - please find the Monday date at the top to know what will be on offer for the week. There are 3 menus to see below. Yum!
Please note that there has been a change to the Friday Fish vs Fish fingers following a democratic vote led by the children. Fish will be for 2 weeks and Fish fingers will be for 1 week out of the 3 as 30% votes for the fish fingers and 60% votes for fish!
