WHMS Counseling Program

WHMS counselors play a critical role in ensuring students develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be successful inside and outside of school. WHMS counselors assist in providing an environment conducive to and supportive of academic success. WHMS counselors use data to identify student needs and help remove barriers that may be getting in the way of achievement.

Social Emotional Learning

As advocates for students, WHMS counselors promote a positive environment that enhances students’ ability to properly manage the social and emotional demands of their lives. WHMS counselors support social/emotional development through classroom lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling that includes collaboration and consultation with staff, families, and community services.

College and Career

WHMS counselors seek to prepare students for high school and beyond. WHMS counselors support students with college and career development using various exploration activities which include planning and goal-setting conversations. Additionally, WHMS counselors work with students to help them identify their strengths and interests and introduce them to opportunities that match their traits.
