- Monday: 5 easy miles Legs were toasted from my 5 hour adventure at the end of last week. Jogged my standard out and back in my old Pearl Izumi road N1s
- Tuesday: Treadmill run hike. 6 miles running at just under 8:30 pace, then hiking for a mile at 15% gradient.
- Wednesday: Originally wanted to do a long trail run but couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead I did 10 loops of a ~0.5 mile hill loop near my house, with a steep section which gains abotu 150 ft and then a longer descent.
- Thursday: two (long) loops on the flatter reservoir trail in the Middlesex fells, by this point in the week I was really feeling the long miles the week before coupled with the fact that it was my 9th day of running without a break.
- Friday: 4 miles in the morning, followed by a slow run / hike of the reservoir loops in the evening.
- Saturday: Longer run in the morning, 14.5 miles. Ran out to the and then through the fells to a parking area on the west side to meet up with some folks and then did a loop on Skyline with them before running home. Have some thoughts on the week and the run on video which I need to upload. https://youtu.be/MiRC1ftmgzg
- Sunday: 10 miles with trail tribe. Haven't run with the trail tribe in a while so it was a great time to get out and see some friends. Had to tack on some extra at the end to hit 10 miles and make it 70 for the week.
Total: hopefully 70, we'll see! Update: made it to 70!
Thoughts: This week was sloooow. And looking like it'll be less vertical than last week. Definitely starting to feel worn down. My current plan is to hang out for one more week at 70ish and then take a lower week. Maybe can hit ~250 miles for the month of April, which I think would be a great kickoff to the spring / summer training season. I have also officially signed up for Chocorua, a 15km mountain race in NH. Excited to get into the mountains and climb some mountains, but that race isn't until May.
Side note, my run last Sunday messed up my GoPro pole so I got a new one and it seems way better (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078XTCMC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). Only one run with it, but I think I would recommend it.
Photo: My La Sportiva Akashas. I wore them in the rain on technical rocks on Saturday. They look even more worn than the photo as the photo is old. I have over 450 miles on them now, but keep wearing them. They've taken my through most of the Bear 100, all of the Georgia Death, all of the Bromont 160km, and at least 1 Pemi loop. Reading this makes me think I should finally invest in a second pair....
