Privacy Policy for Whiteknuckle
Last updated: 2026
Whiteknuckle is a calibration deck for nervous flyers. You judge claims about flying, the app shows you the evidence, and over time it charts where your fear and the facts disagree. This document explains, plainly, what happens to the things you enter.
1. The short version
Nothing you do in Whiteknuckle leaves your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no server on our side, and no analytics or advertising code inside the app. We cannot see your calls, your declared fears, your flights, or the cards you write, because none of it is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else.
2. What the app keeps, and where
Whiteknuckle records the things it needs to draw your Bias Map and Logbook: each card you judge and the verdict you gave, the numbers you enter on estimate cards, the fear profile you declare, the flights you log, the claim cards you write yourself, your Balance and deck-size settings, and your badge and streak progress. All of it is written to the app's private container on the device. It is not synced, not backed up by us, and not readable by other apps.
3. Reminders
If you switch reminders on, the app asks iOS for permission to show local notifications: a daily nudge for your deck at a time you choose, and a notice the evening before a flight you have logged. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on the device. Turning reminders off cancels them. Declining the permission changes nothing else about the app.
4. Nothing is sent anywhere
The app makes no network requests. The built-in deck of claims and estimate questions ships inside the app bundle. There are no third-party services, no crash reporters, no attribution SDKs, and no tracking identifiers.
5. Removing your data
Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on request. Settings has a Reset option that wipes the journal, declarations, flights, and your own cards from the device; deleting the app removes everything, including settings.
6. Children
Whiteknuckle is written for adults who fly and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly gather anything from anyone, of any age.
7. Not medical advice
The deck explains aviation facts in plain language to help you compare your beliefs with the evidence. It is not therapy and does not diagnose or treat a phobia. If fear of flying is affecting your life, a qualified professional is the right next step.
8. Updates to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this document, we will revise it and move the "Last updated" line. The version inside the app always matches the version published with the listing.
