Kai is the spirit trapped inside Mandy's cursed pendant, making him her guardian. A curse guardian is what helps and directs the cursed ones to their destiny. They're previously cursed ones who didn't meet the curse's desired destiny for them or died too early to finish the mission, then having their souls trapped inside the pendant and replacing the previous guardian. They're the ones who are able to see the golden ribbons of love.
