I still keep an extensive mp3 library -- don't laugh. Reviewing my listening habits over the past few years it seems I really haven't added a lot of new music, and most of it by bands I've been listening to for years. There are sometimes new artists that really catch my ear, but rarely.

If you mention a song or an album in a comment, please take the time to add a Youtube link or a streaming playlist, so readers can easily check them out. Mentioning music without linking to the music is difficult for someone who is not familiar with it.

Posts about your own mental health and relationship issues as they pertain to music in general (e.g. "I can't enjoy music anymore", "There's too much music; how do I keep up?", "Where can I find friends who like the same music as me?") are not allowed. Neither the mods or the users of this sub are in a position to give you good advice on these questions; please find a sub more suited to discussing mental health and relationships.

Just saw Wonka in theaters and left kinda confused why they didn't hire an experience songwriting team from Broadway to write the songs. In revisiting the music, I'm trying to figure out if there's some moments that match the traditional American musical (is there a term for this?).

Music should stand on its own, and titles should be objective. If you have an interesting story behind the music, include it in the comments section, or the body of your discussion post. No emotional appeals, asking for votes, or other 'clickbait.'

No links to pirated, leaked, or unreleased music, such as torrent sites, file-sharing platforms, or unofficial YouTube channels. No promotion of piracy or similar acts, such as encouraging others to download or stream music illegally. This rule helps to respect the rights and efforts of the creators and distributors of music.

Submissions should be limited to individual songs. This helps ensure a diverse selection of music from many different users. If you want to share or request playlists, you might visit r/IMadeAPlaylist or r/SpotifyPlaylists instead. This rule helps to promote music discovery and appreciation.

Discussions on r/Music should promote meaningful and substantive discussions about music-related topics. Hastily written/off-topic text posts that lack depth, context, or the potential for engaging conversations will likely be removed.

I have been seeing the "blah blah music after 1950s is bad and unoriginal" or "rock > everything in existence because I have never researched or tried anything different for 5s". So I want to flip it on its head;

The title's pretty self-explanatory. I'm extremely new and am just now trying to compose my first video edit which will be a AMV. But I'm not sure where I can download music/audio/songs to use for the videos. Help would be appreciated!

Apologies if this isn't the place for this question, but I'm just curious how you guys discover new music? Been in a bit of a rut with it lately, but I usually use my Discover Weekly playlist in Spotify, the Listen To This sub, obscure local radio stations while driving, recommendations from friends, etc. But I'm looking for more ways to be exposed to new/unique/varried music. Any suggestions?

Please make sure that your content actually relates to Okeechobee Music Festival. Lineup posters for other festivals are fine to share, because we can compare their lineups to our own lineup. For non-lineup discussion of other festivals, please use r/festivals or other festival subreddits. Also random posts that simply don't relate will be removed. There is a lot of content that is obviously shot way before youtube's time and I am just curious, where did those videos go to, such as the many 90s music videos. Where did they go before youtube's time? I also noticed there also many videos that got uploaded on the day of June 16, 2009. Like a TON of music videos on VEVO. I am curious why there were so many music videos released on a certain day. Was it when VEVO was discovered or something? But for the most part, where were music videos shot in like the 50s-early 2000s originally premiered on?

I want to start Dj'ing and I'm planning on buying the DDJ 400. My only problem is, that I don't know where to get my music from. I know there are these music pools but I read that you need to be a DJ already in order to use it and I don't wanna take an expensive subscription right away because I don't even know if I would like DJ'ing. So what's the best way to get started with the music?

But a few months ago my phone started playing a song I didn't recognize. None of my music playing apps were running and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I shazamed the artist and it was some Swedish vaporware artist with like 12 followers. It was very weird, but the same song played on repeat for a little over an hour. I tried restarting my phone, putting it on airplane mode, deleting my music playing apps, taking a video to see if the audio would shut pause (It didn't), but it just kept playing the song. Then just as suddenly as it began, it stopped. I was really freaked out. I wondered if my phone had been tapped or maybe it was malware or something. But when I took it in to get checked they said nothing was wrong.

I'm looking for a site with many filters such as: era, mood, genre...

I usually try looking for keywords on YouTube

I'm not looking for No Copyright Music

Music is my main problem while editing

It's really important in my videos, but never seem to find suitable one (because I don't listen to a lot of different musics)

I usually edit car review videos / car adventures

Right now I'm looking for something from 90's-early 2000's rap music for a little action, but the one that would bring back memories from back then

Around 2015 I started reading a lot of music reviews and since then I feel like the quality of album reviews has gotten lower and lower. Fantano gives me much better information about an album than most music sites. I find that I still enjoy the reviews on PopMatters and Stereogum, and occasionally Uproxx and SputnikMusic (I mean the official ones, though the user written ones are good too), and yes. AngryMetalGuy's metal reviews are awesome too. The quality of other sites varies a lot. I feel like they also know what they're talking about on Allmusic, but their reviews tend to be too brief for me.

I especially look for reviews that also provide some backgound info and deeper thoughts about the albums, not just some pretentious opinions like many sites do. I'd just stick with my favorites and then watch some music vloggers on YouTube, but I have more time to read than watch, so I'd like to know if the ones I find terrible are really terrible, or if I just regularly come across bad writers on these sites while others are pretty okay.

I'm looking for any advice anyone has on getting into washboard playing. Is it worth it to spring for a Columbus Washboard Co washboard or will a $40 washboard off ebay do me just as good? Any methods you think are most effective for learning? I don't have anyone to teach me besides the internet and some music education on rhythm, I'd just like an instrument to bring to jam sessions that I might be able to pick-up quicker than the stringed instrument I'm currently in lessons for (clawhammer banjo). Any advice is appreciated!

If you have any exposure to music notation, it's very easy to skip levels. If you know FACE and that Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit, you can skip a lot. Throw in accidentals and you'll get even further. Know how long a "quarter note" is? You're golden. ff782bc1db
