Employees of any company are confronted with an increasing selection of collaboration options. With Microsoft Teams, another tool has been added to simplify communication and enable the fast exchange of files and information within project teams.

As a reminder, teams are divided into six groups of five, with three groups each in conference (you can find full rules, including tiebreakers and more, here). Each team plays the others in its group once, for a total of four games in pool play; the six group winners and one wild card from each conference will advance to the quarterfinals in early December. The IST culminates in a semifinals and final on Dec. 7 and 9 in Las Vegas.

This is where teams show their mettle. The season is no longer young. There's less than a month remaining in the regular season. The Packers need to decide what team they're going to be. Are you going to be the well-oiled machine that beat Detroit and Kansas City? Or the rollercoaster that led to one-score losses against Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, Pittsburgh and now the Giants.

Perhaps. Losing to established names makes the medicine taste better, but I give DeVito a lot of credit. He's a QB who thrives in chaos. I'm not sure what that means for the future, but those backups help teams win in the present.

When I work with leaders and their teams, we dig into psychological safety. We explore the extent to which it already exists and how we can build it further. Below are some of the topics we examine together.

While the best results are seen within organizations where psychological safety is the norm, teams can still establish it locally regardless of the larger environment. This is encouraging news for leaders and their teams.

If you're a fan of MOBAs but aren't a fan of battling other human beings over the internet, then Vela Games' Evercore Heroes may pique your interest. It's a competitive PVE game where teams of heroes fight it out to finish a dungeon run the fastest. And having seen a brief presentation of it behind closed doors, it looks like a good time - albeit one taking heavy inspiration from its main competitors.

In Evercore Heroes, you've got four teams of four competing with each other simultaneously in what's dubbed a "session", but is more like a dungeon run. After players have chosen their heroes, they'll compete to charge their Evercore (a big crystal that lies in every team's base) the fastest.

Occasionally there'd be these "Surges" (waves of baddies) that threatened to destroy each team's Evercore, so players needed to hoof it back to base and defend their precious crystal. Those who completed a certain objective before anyone else could make these surges harder for their opponents, too, like adding extra frost yetis to the mix to delay their time spent elsewhere.

A matrix organization is a company structure where teams report to multiple leaders. The matrix design keeps open communication between teams and can help companies create more innovative products and services. Using this structure prevents teams from needing to realign every time a new project begins.

How can you empower teams to move quickly on complex projects without getting bogged down by stakeholder reviews and approvals? Organizational structure may be the answer. Most work environments have chains of command in place so that everyone has clarity around decision-making authority.

A matrix organization is a work structure where team members report to multiple leaders. In a matrix organization, team members (whether remote or in-house) report to a project manager as well as their department head. This management structure can help your company create new products and services without realigning teams.

The matrix team reduces costs because without a combined group of specialists, companies would have to restructure teams and potentially hire new team members every time a new product or service is developed.

Working in a matrix structure creates a free-flow of information between teams because the team reports to multiple leaders. While team members must remember to relay information in a hierarchical system, the matrix makes information flow a requirement. Reporting information to multiple leaders may seem tedious, but with the right project management system in place, it requires little or no extra work from team members.

The complexity of the matrix organization can be a disadvantage because teams may have trouble knowing who to report to and when. While the intention of the matrix is to benefit teams, it may complicate projects and muddy the overall process.

Solution: Using a project management system will solve the issue of slow response times with the matrix structure. As a central source of truth, Asana can prevent duplicate work and increase visibility among teams and leadership.

There's nothing wrong with that, and coaches know their ability to contend for championships often hinges on who starts under center. But coaches also are quick to point out that players in other roles are critical to their teams' success and ultimately in constructing championship rosters. These players are truly luxuries, such as a capable backup quarterback, a powerful third-down back or a linebacker who can not only crash on run plays, but also drop back in coverage.

Bean, who began his career at North Texas and started for Kansas in 2021, went through Senior Day ceremonies last fall and considered pursuing the NFL at another position before deciding to return shortly after the Jayhawks' bowl game. He spent part of the summer training as a receiver, where his speed -- Bean has 1,157 career rushing yards and 11 touchdowns -- could translate. Jeanty's all-around ability is reflected on plays like a rail route he ran against UCF. The Knights brought pressure to the side where he was running, forcing the ball out quickly. Jeanty adjusted to it and raced for a 38-yard touchdown to put Boise State ahead.

"He has wiggle, he has really fluid hips and can make moves at the second level," Montgomery said. "He does some special things. He runs with a certain physicality and a mentality where he knows he's going to get downhill and no matter if it's a linebacker or a safety coming down, if it gets condensed in there, he can lower that shoulder and keep those feet moving."

In adding Powell-Ryland from Florida, Virginia Tech expected him to bolster a pass rush that last season ranked 74th nationally in sacks per game (2.09) and tied for 63rd in team pressures (135). The Hokies noticed Powell-Ryland's pass-rushing prowess with the Gators, where he started five games in 2022, recording three sacks and three forced fumbles.

Powell-Ryland says he's used as a pass-rusher "almost every play" he's on the field. Virginia Tech has moved him around so opponents "can't exactly pinpoint where he is," Price said. Although the Wake Forest game jumps out, Price noted Powell-Ryland also had two sacks in the opener against Old Dominion and has forced fumbles in three games.

"I had to get better at [coverage]," Dupree said. "I was more accustomed to trying to fit the run and stuff like that. Once we started playing more teams that spread you out, you try to work on getting better feet and better hips."

Abrams-Draine primarily played nickel corner in 2021 before moving outside, but Missouri essentially can use him anywhere it wants against opposing wide receivers. He has become one of the nation's top cover men, leading the nation in total passes defended (14), while ranking second in passes defended per game (1.8) and tied for fourth in interceptions (four).

Since the start of the 2022 season, Abrams-Draine ranks second nationally with 22 pass breakups. His talent has shined on third down this season, where he has three interceptions, three pass breakups and has allowed completions on only 8.3% of passes when he's Missouri's primary defender.

"On our third-down package, we move him into the slot, where he played his first year," Drinkwitz said. "He has a lot of position flexibility because he's a former quarterback, so he doesn't learn in a vacuum. He learns the whole thing, so he understands his place in the system."

Drinkwitz thinks Abrams-Draine will have "a longtime NFL future" after Missouri, where he handled returns earlier in his career and had a 100-yard runback against Tennessee. Abrams-Draine also has improved in run defense.

"He can play on all the special teams," Drinkwitz said. "He's got returnability, he can cover punts, kickoffs, but then he has position flexibility, whether he plays corner or he plays smart nickel. He's got a bright future."

While Taylor might not feel pressure, he and Iowa's specialists understand they need to perform every week. Iowa's special teams unit ranks fourth nationally in expected points added, and leads the FBS by a wide margin during Taylor's time in the program.

"It's not really anything new," Iowa special teams coordinator LeVar Woods told me. "We've all known Tory to be a dynamic player with the ability to change field position, pin people inside the 5, inside the 10. What you're seeing from him now is a little bit more consistency. For whatever reason, it's shining more for him this year, but he's been doing the same stuff."

"There's one or two runs every game where you're like, that's going to be a zero- or 1-yard gain and it ends up as a touchdown or a 20-yard gain, and you're like, 'How does that just happen?'" Sumrall said. "I tell our staff all the time, 'Just get him to the line of scrimmage and we're going to have a good play.'"

"Put the ball in my hands and let's go get the first down, that's how I feel," Mahdi told me. "Third-down plays are when we bring out our best plays to put the ball in our playmakers' hands, so Coach is calling a good play and me executing my job and knowing where the first-down marker is, that's how we get them." 2351a5e196
