The first thing I noticed about the Dark of the Moon Tour was that it was, indeed, very dark. The chill in the air may have been due to the setting sun or the spookiness of Halloween night. The Museum grounds, usually bright with sunlight, faded into the shadows of the trees which hovered around it. The only true source of light appeared in the beacon of its namesake: The Lighthouse.
The occasion of the evening only became more apparent as we stood outside of the Museum gift shop, waiting to be led on our spooky journey. Halloween shirts and costumes popped up sporadically in a few of the more festive guests. Promptly at 7:30 pm, our party was escorted to the base of the tower, where we learned the rules for the evening and split into groups. My group entered the Lighthouse first. We stood at the bottom of the tower and listened to the stories of ghosts seen in the past, especially the mysterious Shadow Figure who has been seen peering over the railing down at guests.
Despite the fear and the height, everyone made it to the top and embraced the whipping chill of the wind. All of St. Augustine stretched below, hundreds of tiny lights peppering the ground. It was almost beautiful enough to make me forget the ghost story I was standing on.

The building ran into trouble and became run down with the economic difficulties affecting many of the tenants, this led to one tense showdown where a tenant on the upper floors kidnapped his secretary and threatened her with a gun. The police attempted a daring raid, but it backfired and the gunman was tackled just after he had killed the secretary, and in the struggle he tried to shoot himself, maiming his face.
He decided to sleep inside the museum one night, with the agreement of the staff. The next morning the staff opened the doors, the journalist was in one piece, but pale and visibly shaken by what he saw. But what did he see?

My partner and I did the Old Town Spring Ghost Tour on Sat and I have to say I was very impressed. I have lived in the spring/woodlands area my whole life and know the folklore and yet our guide Lindy was full of tons of information I did not know. It wasn't hokey either just fun, a little unnerving and informative. We even caught things on our cameras such as mist (on a clear night) a vortex and a purple orb believed to be a little girl named Isobel. I tend to be more skeptical and go on these tours because I like the history, but I have to say the things that happened on this tour were odd and unexplainable. If macabre history and a scary good time is your thing The Old Town Ghost Tour is a must.

I've done a ghost tour before, but this was my first ghost hunt. It was so fun, and was everything I didn't know it would be. Our tour guide was also so awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the history and made it fun, and he was very funny. Totally recommend the ghost hunt!
We took our granddaughter for her first ghost tour and we all loved it. Definitely recommend this tour. Take your camera's and be prepared for a wonderful time. Even if you don't capture anything thing, the story telling is awesome. We can't wait to go on another one. Our granddaughter can't wait either!!
AWESOME experience! Very friendly staff who were eager to help us when we couldn't make a typical Friday or Saturday tour! Not only were there interesting and spooky stories that gave me and my friend chills, but we also captured many orbs on camera, and I even felt someone touch my leg!!!
