I received a gift card a few months ago. Went to use it today and the QVC rep told me there was zero amount on the card and it was closed. This was a gift card for $100 given to me and has not been used. I know there were quite a few problems with them last year around the holidays. Any suggestions on the best way to resolve this problem? The phone rep. told me to call Cashstar and that number looped me back to QVC. Thank you
This might not help, but one thing you might not realize is that the $ amount on a QVC Gift Card can be loaded onto an account without making a purchase. Once it is loaded onto an account, the card is done, whether it has been spent or not.
Did you scratch the cover label just prior to trying to use it today? I don't see how it could have been used. Have you checked to see if you have any credits on your QVC account? They would be there with you entering the card information with an item in your cart without completing the purchase.
"One trick is for thieves to go to stores and surreptitiously scratch off the film strip on the backs of gift cards to get the personal identification numbers (PINs), which they cover back up with easy-to-obtain replacement stickers.
Well, we weren't so happy. The card had no balance on it either and Amazon would not make it good. I was out $200 and embarassed and my grandson was disappointed. I had to give him $100 to make up for the $100 gift card that was empty.
Thank you all for the responses. My son called Cashstar and they showed that the card did have a $100 balance. The aren't sure why I was told there was no balance and the account was closed. They canceled the card and reissued. I was able to use the reissued card. Thank you again.
This just happened to me. Sister sent me a 75 dollar gift card. Went to use it and qvc said already used. I had only received it. Tried to use it several times and no go. My sister had to call card company which told her it was qvc. They will not return her money or issue new card. They said it would take several weeks. Wouldn't tell her where it was spent or anything. I'm out a Christmas gift and she's out 75 bucks. No more..
Yrs ago my DIL gave me a Q gift card. When I went to use it I got the same reply. It is not used by someone else ,QVC credits it towards your own acct. on something you already may have bought before you even knew you would get the card.
I never buy gift cards from those displays in stores. Too many problems with criminals stealing the info on the back of the card.
I only buy gift cards through my bank. The bank keeps the cards in their vault. I had to provide identification before the purchase.

Has anyone received or bought a gift card for QVC from Cashstar? Received one recently for $100 and when I went to put this in my QVC account there was no PIN # under where it should be peeled off, rendering this card useless. QVC wants nothing to do with it and Cashstar customer service after holding for a while transfers over to QVC.
Started to research Cashstar and their reviews are terrible, lots of people scammed.
Sent an email to them, hoping for the best, to get the PIN for this card or a replacement.
Will be contacting the higher ups at QVC tomorrow to ask why they need to use a 3rd party gift card service and want to warn any QVC customers about this so it doesn't happen to them.
Several years ago I purchased a QVC gift card for my sister's birthday which is in late December. I ordered it around the second week of November. After weeks, I still haven't received it. Called QVC who said I had to call Cashstar directly, that "QVC has nothing to do with gift cards." After many phones calls, I finally got thru to Cashstar but to say they were less than helpful is an understatement. Couldn't tell me if my order was processed, if it had been sent out yet...absolutely no information. Useless. The gift card didn't come until almost Christmas. I had to find something else to give my sister for her birthday. Never again will I buy a QVC gift card. I've read many posts here complaining about them. I,too, google Cashstar and was shocked to read the horrible reviews. It's a wonder they're in business.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm not sure what will happen, Cashstar gave me a case number in an email response. Not expecting much but hoping they'll do the right thing.
So many wrote on the BBB site about their experiences with this company...people should be warned again not to use them and QVC should have some responsibility if they're using a company for their gift cards that is not reputable.
@sonson, frustrating I can imagine. And I'm sure the last thing you want to do is to contact the gift sender, but you may need to provide the confirmation number they were sent when they purchased the card. It would probable help speed things along.
The date it was ordered and order number was on a paper that was sent with the gift card, I was able to give them that information and also who it was from and the amount.
Hoping they do the right thing and issue another. I did ask if they could send to my email if possible so the PIN number would be in the email and not have to be scratched from the card again.
A gift card functions much like a debit card, but with the limitation that it is preloaded with a specific amount and it can only be used in a specific store. QVC has its gift cards and they can be bought from QVC stores and also from other stores. The following is a list of where you can buy QVC gift cards from:
The first place you can buy a QVC gift card is from QVC itself. QVC sells its gift cards through CashStar, which is a Blackhawk network business. CashStar is a company that provides a platform for companies to sell their gift cards and for consumers to buy. Both digital and plastic cards can be bought. Its clients include Starbucks, Walmart, Uber, Sephora, etc. CashStar also lets you choose a custom design for physical gift cards of any denomination that will then be shipped to your chosen location.
