I have exactly the same issue, and rebooting does not help. It happens to me most of the times.

And Whatsapp does not work properly many times when I have a lot of apps open - frozen screen, does not respond to command and so on. So it is quite annoying!

Hi, so I recently bought IPhone 13, it is working fine, but when I open a voice note in WhatsApp and put the phone in my ear, the screen turns black but the voice still loud and be played via the speaker, I recently noticed the same issue in the phone app too, can anyone help?.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. In the WhatsApp app, you should be able to listen to your messages through your phone's ear speaker, speakerphone, or through headphones. For steps on how to do so, click here: WhatsApp Help Center - How to play voice messages.

Normal calls the sound u hear comes through the earpiece at the top and ur voice goes through the microphone at the bottom of the phone, in a loudspeaker call the sound u hear comes from the bottom speaker and the other person hears u through the microphone at the top which is next to the earpiece speaker... clean all the speaker holes and the mic holes then clean the speaker grill at the top.

That's clearly not a hardware issue. If it wasn't working at all someone would have already answered your question at the time it was asked. You may find an answer from Whatsapp developers/customers service or try a full iPhone restore (remember to back up data before as that will erase all and everything).

@bajlk The iPhone actually has 3 microphones, one on the bottom used for normal calls, one on top front side used for video calls etc and one on top backside next to the camera used for video recordings. But loudspeaker is just one on the bottom and since you asked about loudspeaker I just answered about that one :) If others can't hear you on whatapp calls but you can hear them, the problem is likely on top front microphone, a quite easy and inexpensive repair.

If this is after a speaker repair/replacement, start from the beginning. Tear-down the phone again, take apart the LCD and check the speaker. Make sure that there is no damage to either the speaker, or the ribbon cable that it sits on with the 4 gold contacts.

my IPHONE 6 speaker is not working on whataapp call, otherwise its working with normal call. I have got the screen changed and afterwards i am facing this problem. i have got the ear piece, speaker etc cleaned but problem still persists. i have also tried to uninstal n reinstall whatasp but still facing the issue. It seems to be some software issue from whatapp.

If you go with a speaker, not earbuds or a speakerphone, if the other party is also using a speaker (they not using earbuds/speakerphone) then you or they will be hearing an echo, or worse - feedback.

as someone who owns a motion boom, i never had a problem with echo while on a call, I dont use it a lot but have used it several times, I actually do get echo on my phone when on speaker phone. I think it has to do with the mic location on the phone and motion boom. the choice is the buyers but just wanted to put it out there as someone who has actually used it .

if you are looking for something to listen to music with , and an occasional call I honestly recommend this. The bass is easily adjusted through the app with custom eq but personally I think this is a great speaker . I own a pair and find them durable enough to withstand northern USA winters outside, and powerful enough to do Disturbed, Avenge Sevenfold, Breaking Ben, Slipknot and others justice. My personal test in getting the EQ straight was finding the right settings for Sound of Silence by Disturbed as well as Down with the Sickness. Once I had that set I just tweak it slightly hear and there as needed . I basically do a U shape in my custom then lower my bass slightly. . I hope you are as happy with your Boom as I am.

Hey @Marcveegee! Please do a Soft Reset of the S10 by holding the Volume Down as well as the Power buttons for 10 seconds. Afterwards, head to: Settings > Apps > Whatsapp app > Storage > Clear cache. Then try playing voice notes again. Does it help?

I connected my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to my car's Bluetooth and started to call my friend using the phone's loudspeaker on WhatsApp or LINE app. However, I also want to listen to music on the Spotify app, but through my Bluetooth speaker on my car.

If nothing here works, then your phone might have broken hardware. The likely culprit is bad speakers, so you should try connecting to another audio device or using media on another app to isolate the problem.

It is also possible to specifically deactivate media playback on some devices. In this case, the phone is not muted, but media is played without sound. You can check this on Android devices by first pressing the volume keys and then the menu button under the displayed speaker icon.

Alternatively, you can connect headphones to your phone and play the voicemail again. If the WhatsApp voice message is still not audible, your speaker is not the cause of the problem. However, you may notice that your headphones were already connected to your phone and the voice message was played there.

If a WhatsApp voice message is not audible, this can have a wide variety of causes. Not in every case, you can solve it yourself. First, test whether your phone is muted, before you examine the speakers or test the cell phone case off. If there are no audio spikes in the voicemail display, the problem is not with you, but with the other person. In any case, it can be easily solved.

I have seen some apps like WhatsApp has a feature to play audio clips only through earpiece(phone call speaker) when the user brings up the device near to ear. Otherwise its playing via normal built-in speaker.

WhatsApp is currently rolling out a new feature that allows you to turn on disappearing messages for specific conversations. When it's enabled, all of your messages will disappear from a chat after seven days.

Turn on Disappearing Messages by tapping on the contact or chat's name at the top of your screen. Select Disappearing Messages from the list of options and then tap On.

Android users can long-press on a chat, then tap on the crossed-out speaker icon at the top of the screen. iPhone users can swipe to the left across a conversation, then tap the three-dot button followed by Mute.

The loudspeaker functionality does not seem to work correctly when I'm using either the default dialer app or Truecaller for phone calls. Strangely, when I'm playing music, using WhatsApp for calls, or even recording calls (where both parties are clearly audible in the recording), everything works just fine.

I've tested various apps and settings, but the problem persists solely during phone calls when using the loudspeaker mode. I've ensured that the issue is not tied to a single app, but it seems to be a problem within the system itself.

Hey @saaiful,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll forward the issue to the R&D, however, before I do that I'd recommend you perform an SMMI test to check if the speaker is working:

That said, the problem has been reported before by others. I have a similar issue during phone calls - I have to switch between speaker and headphones / earpiece a few times before I can use the speaker. It takes a while (dozens of seconds) for the speaker to work properly, until which I can hear nothing.

Just wanted to update you on my latest tests with calls. When I switched to loudspeaker mode during a call, there was absolutely no sound. Similarly, when I tried using the earpiece, I couldn't hear a thing either. However, when I connected my headphones, I could hear the sound perfectly fine. The strange part is that despite the absence of sound during the call, the recording managed to capture all the voices from all participants accurately.

I got an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 paired with a Sony DR-BTN200 headset. Whenever i get a voice note on WhatsApp and i play it back, music pauses on my BT headset but the voice note is played from the phone's little call speaker (Not even the loud speaker) so it's pretty hard to listen to them.

External speakers and microphones are no problem thanks to Bluetooth, audio jack etc. The cameras will be difficult. At Apple I am pretty sure that they do not allow USB cameras, but maybe you can connect a USB camera to an Android device with a hub.

I have a little problem with my project.

Since I have only some background in coding, but none whatsoever in electronics, this might seem trivial to you but I would really appreciate some help.

I am trying to program a small kitchen timer and whenever the speaker kicks in the whole thing goes down the drain. I assume that the arduino board itself doesnt get enough power to begin with, which is why it resets and the sound never occurs.

In the small sketch I only included the most important things. Attached to the Arduino itself is additionally a button and a small display that needs some power as well.

Here are some details:

Arduino Pro-Mini 3.3V

Speaker: 8 Ohm, 0.5W

Transistor: TIP120

Power Supply: 2 AA batteries connected in series

It worked in the beginning for like a day or two, but now it always stops whenever the timer reaches 0 and should make a sound. The display and everything else still works fine and the batteries still have power.

I tried it without the transistor by connecting the aanalog out from the arduino directly to the speaker with yields the same results.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the transistor allows a higher voltage into the speaker (not only the 3.3V from the board) so that it is a bit louder.

I tried it with 100, 200, and 300 Ohms now and none seems to work

It works however if I skip the transistor and connect the arduino to 200 Ohms and then to the speaker directly. This is however very quiet and therefore no good solution. 2351a5e196
