Welcome to WhatsApp & Imo: Call Recorder (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how our App accesses, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our call recording features.
Our App is designed to help users record audio from WhatsApp and IMO voice and video calls, where supported by the device and Android operating system.
Our privacy commitment: Call recordings are intended to remain on your device. We do not operate a cloud storage service for uploading or storing your recordings, and we do not sell your call recordings or personal information.
Please read this policy carefully before using the App.
Depending on the features you enable and the permissions you grant, the App may access or create the following information.
When you use the recording feature, the App accesses your device's microphone to capture audio during supported WhatsApp and IMO calls.
The App may create and store:
Recorded audio files from supported calls.
Recording duration and file size.
Recording timestamps and locally stored file information.
Other basic recording metadata required to organize and play recordings.
These files and associated metadata are stored locally on your device. We do not intentionally upload, transmit, or share your recordings with our servers.
Recording quality and the ability to capture both sides of a conversation depend on your device, Android version, audio routing, and the restrictions imposed by other applications.
The App may request permission to use Android's Accessibility Service to detect relevant call-screen or application-state changes associated with WhatsApp and IMO.
This functionality is used to help identify when a supported call starts, connects, or ends and to trigger the recording workflow.
The service is intended to be limited to call detection. It is not designed to collect chat messages, passwords, keystrokes, or unrelated screen content.
Accessibility access is used only after you enable the relevant permission. You can disable this permission through your Android device's Settings, although doing so may prevent automatic call detection.
The App requests microphone access to record audio during supported calls.
Microphone access is used for the App's recording functionality. Recording may not work when permission is denied, microphone access is restricted, or the operating system or another application prevents audio capture.
The App does not claim that microphone access can bypass Android's privacy restrictions or guarantee two-way audio recording on every device.
The App stores recordings and related information in its designated local storage area.
If you choose to export a recording to your Downloads folder or share it through another application, the file will be made available to the destination you select. The destination application may process, transmit, or store the file according to its own privacy practices.
You are responsible for choosing a trusted destination when exporting or sharing recordings.
If you enable App Lock, the App may store the settings and authentication-related information needed to protect access to its features.
Where supported, authentication may use your device's biometric authentication system. The App does not need to collect or store your fingerprint or facial biometric data itself when authentication is handled by Android.
Information accessed or created by the App is used for the following purposes:
Call recording: Capture audio during supported calls when recording is enabled.
Automatic call detection: Identify relevant call states to initiate or stop recording.
Recording management: Display, organize, play, and manage locally stored recordings.
File export and sharing: Allow you to export or share recordings when you choose to do so.
Storage management: Help you manage recording files and optionally remove recordings older than 30 days.
App security: Support available local app-lock and authentication features.
We do not use call recordings to sell products, build advertising profiles, or monetize private conversations.
We do not operate external cloud storage servers for call recordings. Recordings are intended to be stored locally on your device unless you explicitly export or share them through another service.
We do not sell call recordings, audio files, or personal information to third parties.
The App is intended to operate without advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs that inspect your call recordings.
If a future version introduces analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or other third-party services that collect information, this Privacy Policy and the relevant Google Play disclosures will be updated as required.
When you choose to export or share a recording, the selected destination may receive the file. This transfer is initiated by you and is governed by the destination application's policies.
We do not control how third-party applications handle files after you share them.
We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal process. We do not maintain a central repository of your locally stored call recordings from which we can retrieve them.
We take reasonable steps to protect information handled by the App.
Our intended security measures include:
Local storage: Recordings are stored in the App's designated private storage area where supported by Android.
Android sandboxing: Private application files benefit from Android's application isolation mechanisms.
Optional App Lock: PIN or biometric protection may be available, depending on the features enabled in your version of the App.
User control: You can manage, export, share, or delete recordings using the available App features.
No software or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Device compromise, unauthorized physical access, operating-system vulnerabilities, or files exported outside the App may affect your privacy.
Private application storage should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every exported file is encrypted or inaccessible in every circumstance.
Recordings remain on your device until you delete them, an enabled automatic-cleanup feature removes them, or another device-level action affects the files.
If the automatic-cleanup feature is available and enabled, the App is designed to remove recordings older than 30 days from its managed local storage.
The cleanup feature may not run immediately in every circumstance, such as when background execution is restricted or the device is not available.
You can delete recordings through the App's recording-management interface.
Deleting a recording removes the file from the location managed by the App. It does not guarantee forensic erasure of every underlying storage block, nor does it remove copies that you previously exported, shared, or backed up elsewhere.
Uninstalling the App generally removes its private application data according to Android's normal behavior. Files exported to public folders or copied to other applications may remain on your device or in other locations.
You should review and remove exported files separately if you no longer want to keep them.
The App may request the following Android permissions or special access, depending on your device and enabled features.
Microphone — RECORD_AUDIO
Used to capture audio during supported calls when recording is active.
Accessibility Service — BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE
Used to detect relevant WhatsApp and IMO call-screen or application-state changes to support automatic recording. It is not intended for reading private chats or capturing unrelated screen content.
Foreground Service — FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE
Used, where permitted by Android, to maintain microphone-related recording functionality while the App operates in the background or the device screen is locked.
Notifications — POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Used to display recording status, service notifications, and available recording controls where supported.
The App may also use other permissions or system capabilities necessary for its actual implemented features, such as managing files or displaying an App Lock interface.
You can manage permissions in your Android device settings. Revoking a required permission may disable some or all related functionality.
Laws governing telephone and internet-based call recording vary by country, state, and region. Some jurisdictions require the consent of all participants, while others permit recording under different conditions.
By using the App, you agree that you are responsible for:
Understanding the call-recording laws applicable to your location.
Obtaining any consent or authorization required from other participants.
Informing participants when required by law.
Using recordings lawfully and respecting other people's privacy.
Avoiding unauthorized recording, distribution, or misuse of conversations.
The App is a recording utility. Its availability does not mean that recording a particular conversation is lawful, and we do not provide legal advice.
The App is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children. It does not require users to create an account to use its core recording features, unless a future version introduces such functionality.
Parents and guardians should ensure that the App is used appropriately and that any recording involving a child complies with applicable privacy and consent laws.
If you believe that personal information has been collected from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, please contact us using the details in Section 13.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal information.
Because the App is designed to keep recordings locally on your device, you can generally manage them directly by:
Reviewing and playing recordings.
Exporting or sharing files you choose.
Deleting individual recordings.
Enabling or disabling automatic cleanup.
Disabling optional permissions or App Lock features.
If you have a privacy-related question or believe information has been handled improperly, you can contact us using the details below.
The App is intended for users in multiple countries. Privacy rights and call-recording requirements vary by jurisdiction.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with any mandatory rights provided by the data protection laws applicable to you. Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features, data practices, or legal obligations change.
Any revised policy will be published at the same public Privacy Policy URL, with the updated revision date. You should review this page periodically to remain informed about our privacy practices.
