Whatsapp Download Chat Backup

I offloaded the app and reinstall it and tried to backup and it worked well. But it worked only once. Now, again I'm trying to backup, it keeps saying "Preparing..." and never completes the process ever, and now offloading and reinstalling the app is also not working at all!

I found a working way to backup the chat but it's a workaround only as the inbuilt chat backup should function in a natural way rather than having a workaround, anyways I am sharing it here because it worked for me (I tested it twice).

I contacted Whatsapp official guys but they kept telling me that there is an ongoing issue with Whatsapp and will be fixed soon but these guys are telling lies. No fix has been given till this date. Unfortunately, I deleted that email.

I followed the workaround but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. The last backup was 12/23/2022. I hope the problem is solved by Apple or Whatsapp. At the beginning of December I also had contact with Whatsapp, but there is no solution.

So now if i activate my whatsapp with a new number and i move the old database and backup folder and replace it with the new ones in internal storage whatsapp

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, boasting over 2 billion active users worldwide. With so many conversations and important messages passing through the app every day, it's crucial to have a backup plan in case something goes wrong.

WhatsApp allows you to export chats as Plain Text, however, this does not embed your media like photos in the export. To retain the nice messaging format used in WhatsApp, and your embedded media, you can instead export as HTML or PDF with TouchCopy!

TouchCopy is an invaluable tool which allows you to view your iPhone content and copy whatever you want to your PC or Mac. With TouchCopy, you can access all your WhatsApp chats, export them (along with emojis and attached media), or print them out!

If you chose to export media as well, the media will be saved in a zip file alongside your .txt file. The images will not be embedded in the text file. Use TouchCopy instead if you would prefer your export to resemble your WhatsApp chat format and embedded media.

When using this method, WhatsApp will back up your chats to Google Drive, however, the backup must first be created on your Android itself - so ensure your Android has sufficient free storage space to store the backup before you proceed (a WhatsApp backup will not count against your storage limit in Google Drive).

You can back up your iPhone in its entirety to iCloud. However, if you only wish to back up your WhatsApp chats to iCloud, you can do this directly from WhatsApp itself on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Before restoring a backup, you may wish to ensure that your existing backup is up to date. Creating a new backup will ensure that all your most recent chats and messages are saved to the backup. This will prevent losing any data since the last backup was made.

Note that the phone number of the iPhone you are restoring to must match the phone number of the device that the backup was made from (backups are linked to a certain phone number and WhatsApp account).

Restoring a complete backup of your iPhone in this way will replace any content currently on your iPhone. As such, you may lose new content on the device which was acquired since your last backup (this is not an issue if you are restoring to a brand-new iPhone). For this reason, make sure you understand this process before proceeding with a full restore of your iPhone.

So basically, I have WhatsApp chat backups from my previous phone which suddenly died out of the blue. I have all the WhatsApp backup on my local storage. I have not done any chats backup on Google drive.

Is there a way to do this? I tried manually placing all the older chats backup to the WhatsApp backup location and reinstalled WhatsApp, but it is not getting recognised, although the new chats for the past few months are restored fine.

Like in iPhone, you can delete and reinstall WhatsApp on your Android device to restore your messages. Reinstall the app, verify your number, and then select the option to either restore your backup from google drive or restore your local backup if you have one.

Remember, these methods will only work if you've been regularly backing up your WhatsApp chats. If a backup was never created or it doesn't contain the deleted chats, then those chats may not be recoverable. You can set timely WhatsApp reminders to check if your chat backup is on.

By default, when you create an iOS backup on Mac (Catalina in my case), it is stored under ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/. The issue is that WhatsApp does create a local backup daily at around 2:00 am in the msgstore.db, however, I wish to receive the texts and media instantly after every message. In a nutshell, is real-time text and media retrieval of WhatsApp messages possible on every message?

P.S. I did try searching online for the mining methods for WhatsApp, but they usually seem to be based on the local backups that have the lowest backup interval of a day, whereas I want it on every message.

Update: As suggested by @pette, I tried emulator method and it too is able to perform chat analysis on the daily local backup. I came across many research papers and realized that WhatsApp does not allow for third party apps to sniff on its application.
