seems to be off, at least judging by the quick look into my house logs - I can't find fresh whatsapp-voice and it was used for sure. It is probably change on the side of whatsapp; if it matters to you business-wise I would report it through the TAC case.

I work for the TAC, and I just searched active cases - don't see a fresh case where someone asked for update of this signature / application. Now, your mileage will be better if you request signature update compared to response time if I request update of the signature - it is always better to have "real" customer asking for it, it will get better attention, that is why I encouraged reporting this issue through the case

I have problems with a policy where I include an application control where I block access to facebook, youtube and others, one of the applications that I allow within the control is whatsapp but it has presented problems since yesterday, the attached files are not They send and the messages are sent several minutes later, the same as when receiving. I have been doing tests and by allowing the known applications the whatsapp starts working correctly, someone could help me know what the problem is if everything was working well until yesterday that I present this inconvenient.

My device is a Fortigate 90D The only categories that I have blocked in the control of applications are: Botnet, Game, P2P, Social.Media, Update, Video/Audio and Unknown applications (now in monitor mode for whatsapp work)

I upgraded our IPS definition package to the latest version (12.315) and customer has confirmed it is working again with no issues. I've checked the logs, and the destinations where we were getting blocked (e6.whatsapp.net, e14.whatsapp.net, etc) which was classified as 'Facebook-Web' application traffic in the 'Unknown Applications' category, is now being seen as 'WhatsApp' application traffic within the 'Collaboration' category, which is correct.

i am having the same issue with a policy where I include an application control where one of the applications that I allow is whatsapp but it has presented problems since yesterday, the attached files are not sent and the messages are sent several minutes later, the same as when receiving.I have been doing tests and by allowing the unknown applications the whatsapp starts working correctly, someone could help me know what the problem is if everything was working well until yesterday. I've logged a case with them to investigate as we picking up the same issue as Discuss stated above. Destination ranges from e6.whatsapp.net all the way up to e14.whatsapp.net, which is classified as a 'Facebook-Web' application within the 'Unknown' application category.

WhatsApp (officially WhatsApp Messenger) is an instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service owned by technology conglomerate Meta.[14] It allows users to send text, voice messages and video messages,[15] make voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other content.[16][17] WhatsApp's client application runs on mobile devices, and can be accessed from computers.[18] The service requires a cellular mobile telephone number to sign up.[19] In January 2018, WhatsApp released a standalone business app called WhatsApp Business which can communicate with the standard WhatsApp client.[20][21]

The service was created by WhatsApp Inc. of Mountain View, California, which was acquired by Facebook in February 2014 for approximately US$19.3 billion.[22][23] It became the world's most popular messaging application by 2015,[24][25] and had more than 2 billion users worldwide by February 2020[26] , confirmed four years later by new 200M registrations per month[27]. By 2016, it had become the primary means of Internet communication in regions including Latin America, the Indian subcontinent, and large parts of Europe and Africa.[24]

In September 2023, Meta expanded its artificial intelligence capabilities into various products including WhatsApp, following the deployment of its AI chatbot. Initial AI integrations were observed in Messenger and Instagram; however, WhatsApp's adaptation was gradual. A significant development was reported in November 2023 when WhatsApp first integrated the AI-powered search bar in a limited beta. According to WABetaInfo, this feature, originally confined to specific regions, has now been extended globally. The AI search bar enables users to interact with Meta's AI directly within WhatsApp by tapping a dedicated icon in the Chats tab, a feature that was tested in both iOS and Android versions of the app. WABetaInfo highlighted that the AI does not transmit data to Meta's servers unless explicitly activated by user queries, ensuring privacy. This integration is part of a broader initiative to embed AI tools within WhatsApp, as seen with previous tests involving AI-based photo editing and chat support functionalities. The ongoing developments are part of Meta's strategy to incorporate advanced AI features into its suite of applications, enhancing user interaction and service efficiency.[180]

WhatsApp uses a customized version of the open standard Extensible messaging and presence protocol (XMPP).[214] Upon installation, it creates a user account using the user's phone number as the username (Jabber ID: [phone number]@s.whatsapp.net).

On December 17, 2019, WhatsApp fixed a security flaw that allowed cyber attackers to repeatedly crash the messaging application for all members of group chat, which could only be fixed by forcing the complete uninstall and reinstall of the app.[277] The bug was discovered by Check Point in August 2019 and reported to WhatsApp. It was fixed in version 2.19.246 onwards.[278][279]

In January 2022, an unsealed surveillance application revealed that WhatsApp started tracking seven users from China and Macau in November 2021, based on a request from US DEA investigators. The app collected data on who the users contacted and how often, and when and how they were using the app. This is reportedly not an isolated occurrence, as federal agencies can use the Electronic Communications Privacy Act to covertly track users without submitting any probable cause or linking a user's number to their identity.[287]

In September 2022, a critical security issue in WhatsApp's Android video call feature was reported. An integer overflow bug allowed a malicious user to take full control of the victim's application once a video call between two WhatsApp users was established. The issue was patched on the day it was officially reported.[289]

In March 2017, British Home Secretary Amber Rudd said encryption capabilities of messaging tools like WhatsApp are unacceptable, as news reported that Khalid Masood used the application several minutes before perpetrating the 2017 Westminster attack. Rudd publicly called for police and intelligence agencies to be given access to WhatsApp and other encrypted messaging services to prevent future terror attacks.[314]

There are numerous ongoing scams on WhatsApp that let hackers spread viruses or malware.[319] In May 2016, some WhatsApp users were reported to have been tricked into downloading a third-party application called WhatsApp Gold, which was part of a scam that infected the users' phones with malware.[320] A message that promises to allow access to their WhatsApp friends' conversations, or their contact lists, has become the most popular hit against anyone who uses the application in Brazil. Clicking on the message actually sends paid text messages. Since December 2016, more than 1.5 million people have clicked and lost money.[321]

The United Arab Emirates banned WhatsApp video chat and VoIP call applications[339][340] in as early as 2013[341] due to what is often reported as an effort to protect the commercial interests of their home grown nationally owned telecom providers (du and Etisalat).[341] Their app ToTok has received press suggesting it is able to spy on users.[340][342]

Israel is one of WhatsApp's strongest markets in terms of ubiquitous usage. According to Globes, already by 2013 the application was installed on 92% of all smartphones, with 86% of users reporting daily use.[370]

Yes, I have. The program window closes, but when you check the running processes, Whatsapp is still running. And if someone sends a message, it pops up... that is intentional I suppose, but an option to actually shut it all down is missing.

While that works with every other program, whatsapp desktop does not close completely with that shortcut, it only closes the window, four other processes stay open. It does however close as expected, if I do File -> Quit.

As far as I understand from my own programming with Qt, a "close event" should implement whatever is necessary to do when the window (through whatever means) is closed. And my assumption here is, that whatsapp-desktop doesn't have this implemented.

I don't disagree regarding quitting and closing not being the same. But I don't have Ctrl+Q mapped to "terminate application", but to "close window", which is exactly the same as mapping Alt+F4 to that event.

Graphical "applications" are "clients" to the "display server". What a client does if you close one of its windows is completely up to the client and its implementation. Apparently WhatsApp follows an SDI model and therefore does not terminate if you close one of its windows. That this has not happened with random other clients you've been using in the past is meaningless. 0852c4b9a8
