It is with much regret that the Committee of Wexford MRC have decided to cancel the Exhibition planned for 9th-10th May 2020 due to the evolving situation in relation to Covid-19. All exhibitors and traders have been contacted. We hope to hold a Special Open Day in October 2020.
The clubrooms will be closed until further notice and the situation will be kept under review.
New WMRC Website
The WMRC website was launched in December 2019. The website will be used to promote club exhibitions and features details of club layouts, news about the club and how to find us if you wish to visit.
Details of our upcoming exhibitions will be updated on a regular basis.
3D Printing Design Tutorial
Dave McCabe presented a tutorial 'Introduction to 3D Printing' on Tuesday 28 January 2020. The tutorial focused on the basics of using the Fusion 360 software to design models for 3D printing.
Several club members have 3D printers and 3D printed items are now being used on club layouts, including 3D printed signals for Little Siddington.
Class 121 Model on Display
Paddy Murphy of Murphy Models visited Wexford Model Railway Club on Saturday 11th January 2020 with samples of the Class 121 which will be available later this year.
Several models were on show including a sound fitted version. Drawings showing the many different variants of the model were also on display, showing the amount of work and dedication which has gone into this model.
Dave McCabe presented a tutorial 'Airbrushing for Beginners' to club members on Tuesday 26 November 2019. This practical session was aimed at people that have recently acquired airbrushes or have an airbrush and made little use of it. The tutorial focused on equipment, usage, cleaning and basic spraying techniques using acrylics paints.
Upcoming tutorials are planned on weathering techniques and electronics.
SDMRC October 2019 Exhibition
WMRC visited the South Dublin Model Railway Club's Model and Hobbies 2019 Exhibition in Blackrock College over the 2019 October Bank Holiday weekend.
Club layout 'Little Siddington' was exhibited at the show and proved to be very popular. Scenic work along the station side of the layout is almost complete and a number of operational hand-built semaphore signals have been installed. Read about Little Siddington on the layouts page.
