...Where learning is fun & engaging!
The Western Pennsyvania Music and Arts Academy, located in Allegheny Township was founded in 2011 by Sandy Rubright who had the vision for community-based music education. The Alle-Kiski Valley, where she grew up has always had a rich foundation of music education offerred through the public school. In today's world, many more children are being educated through nontraditional methods: home schooling, Christian education, cyber schooling and the like. A thorough music education is not always readily available and so with love in her heart, she set out with this idea.
Some folks read music and some do not. Individuals are from Leechburg, Vandergrift, Apollo, Lower Burrell, North Versailles, Delmont and surrounding areas. The Adult Community Choir (Academy Singers) was the first group to be formed in 2011 by Artistic Director, Sandy Rubright.
We sing for Civic organizations, church events, community events, parties, patriotic events, festivals, small town America's events such as Art shows and special occasions. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 in Allegheny Township, near the Giant Eagle, at our handicap-accessible facility.. We are eagerly seeking new members all the time and welcome people graciously. Some of our programs include: Irish, patriotic, 40's-60's, musicals, seasonal music, Beatles etc.
You are welcome to call or email anytime for more information. We typically perform 1-3 events/concerts a semester. If you should decide you'd like to sing with us, call and we will reserve a packet of music for you. We hope you'll have fun and decide to stay!
If you're not a performer, but love a great show, be sure to schedule us for your next event and let us entertain you!
In addition to choral opportunities, Ms. Rubright offers coaching in piano, theory and voice.
