The Times They Are A-Changin’

My husband was a gifted musician, our house was always filled with guitar, banjo, mandolin and piano being played, covering a huge repertoire of songs. He walks my journey with me and there are moments he draws in close with a song and recently it was-The Times They Are A-Changin’ by Bob Dylan. Very fitting for these uncertain times!
Times are certainly changing for the West Devon Tai Chi journey. These changes feel so positive and are being embraced by everyone that has moved forward with me to the great outdoors. I am following my own way-big aspect of Taoist philosophy-as not tapping into Ben’s virtual online classes and no monthly trips to workshops in Bristol; but my learning is still progressing via other ways through my own insights and other sources. Having a beginner’s mentality and constantly taking myself back to the basics is the greatest learning on a personal level and I still have much to share. However, my knowledge of Taiji will always be limited, and as I am now not offering indoor classes, this may well open doorways for some to pursue another avenue of learning. This is all part of their journey and one I have always encouraged, having had many teachers on my journey. I now find myself detaching from the label of instructor and just enjoying the sharing with others.
Weekly classes in halls seem a distant past memory, but these outdoor sessions have so much to offer. It is challenging with the inclement weather and a big thank you to all that join me rain or shine. The groups are small, but we are connecting, laughing and, for some of us, hugging again. There are no restrictions in place, no posters and signs telling us what we can and cannot do-we are free spirits, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful Mother Nature. All the gatherings are special but Tuesday evenings under the night sky are amazing. This week, we had the moon as our light, saw flashes of lightning illuminating the moors and heard the distant call of a stag. We went home exhilarated!
