Membership costs £65 a year. There is a reduced rate of £40 or the first year only if a new member joins on the night of one of our special events. Those who are pensioners, disabled or unemployed can join at half price.

If you want to play competitive chess for one of our teams then you must additionally join the English Chess Federation (ECF), whose most basic "bronze" membership costs £15 a year. This membership means that your games will be graded, and once you have received enough games then you will receive an official ECF grading.
