For healthy eating, the West Bend AFWB12BK13 wins because its rotisserie function and massive 12.6-quart capacity handle full family meals without sacrificing crispiness. If you need even more versatility with a glass door to watch food cook, the West Bend XL Air Fryer Oven is the superior runner-up for its extensive preset library and included accessories.
When you are looking at west bend air fryers, you are often trying to balance countertop space with the ability to cook everything from a quick side of fries to a whole chicken dinner. The market has flooded with options, but West Bend offers a distinct lineup that caters to different household sizes and cooking styles. Some units are designed as compact baskets for single people, while others expand into full ovens that replace your traditional toaster oven or deep fryer entirely. I have analyzed the specifications of their current models to help you decide which one fits your kitchen workflow. This guide cuts through the noise of marketing claims and focuses on what the design and features actually mean for your daily routine. Whether you want to dehydrate fruit for snacks or roast a turkey breast in minutes, there is a specific model here that matches your needs.
• West Bend AFWB12BK13 — best for versatile family cooking; pick this if you need rotisserie capabilities and a large interior to cook main dishes and sides simultaneously.
• West Bend XL Air Fryer — best for high-volume meal prep; pick this if you want the absolute largest capacity with a viewing window and an extensive list of presets.
• West Bend Air Fryer Oven — best for balanced medium households; pick this if you need a mid-size oven that includes multiple baskets and rotisserie tools without taking up excessive counter space.
• West Bend Compact Air Fryer — best for small kitchens or couples; pick this if you prioritize a shake reminder feature and a durable nonstick basket for simple, everyday sides.
• West Bend Air Fryer 4.5 — best for quick individual meals; pick this if you need a footprint-friendly unit that still delivers powerful heating for two to four people.
• West Bend Air Fryer 7 — best for families of six; pick this if you require a larger basket with a viewing window and interior light to monitor cooking without opening the drawer.
This model stands out as a true hybrid appliance, functioning as both an air fryer and a rotisserie oven. With a 12.6-quart capacity, it is built to handle the kind of meals that usually require a dedicated oven. The inclusion of a rotisserie spit means you can rotate a whole chicken or pork loin while the cyclonic crisping technology circulates hot air around it. This combination allows for the texture of deep-fried foods with significantly less oil, aligning perfectly with health-conscious goals without sacrificing flavor.
The digital interface simplifies the process with ten quick menu presets. You can select settings for steak, fish, pizza, or frozen foods with a single touch, eliminating the guesswork of time and temperature. The 1700-watt power output ensures that the unit heats up quickly and maintains consistent temperatures, which is crucial for roasting and baking large items evenly. For a family of four or five, this size allows you to cook a complete dinner, including sides, all at once rather than in batches.
However, the trade-off is its physical footprint and weight. It is not designed for storage in a cabinet after every use unless you have ample space. If you have a very small kitchen, this unit might feel imposing, but for those who entertain frequently or cook large Sunday dinners, the versatility of having a rotisserie function inside an air fryer is unmatched in this price range.
If your primary goal is sheer volume and convenience, the West Bend XL Air Fryer Oven is the most robust option available. Boasting a massive 26-quart capacity, it dwarfs most standard countertop ovens. This unit comes with nine accessories, including a wire rack, bake tray, pizza pan, and a full rotisserie kit. The sheer number of included components suggests that this machine is intended to replace multiple appliances in your kitchen, handling everything from baking bread to roasting a large turkey.

One of its strongest features is the easy-view glass door. Unlike basket-style fryers where you must pull the drawer open to check progress, this design lets you monitor browning and doneness through the clear glass without releasing heat. The control panel offers 24 distinct cooking presets, covering everything from defrosting and proofing dough to making popcorn and grilling. This level of granularity allows for precise cooking methods that go far beyond simple air frying.
The downside to this massive capability is the learning curve and the space it demands. While the controls are intuitive, having so many functions means there is a bit more to memorize than a basic unit. Furthermore, despite its smaller external dimensions relative to its internal volume, it is still a large piece of equipment. If your kitchen counters are cluttered or you live in a condo, this might be too big to leave out permanently. However, for the serious home cook who wants one machine to rule them all, the XL model delivers unmatched utility.
This 15-quart model sits comfortably between the compact baskets and the massive XL ovens. It offers a sweet spot for medium-sized households that need more room than a standard basket provides but do not require the cavernous space of the XL version. Like its larger sibling, it features an easy-view glass door and comes with eight accessories, including three air fryer baskets and a rotisserie set. This multi-basket setup is particularly useful if you are cooking different items that require different racks, allowing you to layer food effectively.
The 1000-watt power rating is lower than the other oven models, which is worth noting. While sufficient for most tasks, it may take slightly longer to reach peak temperatures or cook through dense items compared to the 1700-watt units. However, this lower wattage might also translate to slightly less energy consumption during shorter cooking sessions. The 16 presets cover the essentials like air fry, bake, broil, and rotisserie, providing enough flexibility for weeknight dinners and weekend projects alike.
The main compromise here is the power-to-capacity ratio. Because the wattage is lower, you should expect slightly longer cook times for thick cuts of meat or frozen foods compared to the higher-powered competitors. It is an excellent choice for those who want the "oven" experience with a viewing window but do not need the raw speed of the highest-wattage models. It strikes a balance between performance and size that makes it a practical centerpiece for many kitchens.
For those with limited counter space or who primarily cook for themselves or a partner, the West Bend Compact Air Fryer is a smart choice. With a 5-quart capacity, it is sized to handle typical side dishes or a whole chicken for two. The standout feature here is the shake reminder, a digital alert that prompts you to shake the basket halfway through cooking. This ensures even browning and prevents food from sticking or burning on one side, a common issue with manual air frying.
The build quality feels solid, featuring a diamond-shield infused nonstick coating on the frying basket. This PFOA/PFOS-free material is designed to be scratch-resistant and makes cleanup incredibly fast; you simply wipe it down or place it in the dishwasher. The 1500-watt motor provides plenty of power for a unit of this size, ensuring that food gets crispy quickly without needing to preheat for long periods. The LCD display is easy to read, and the ten presets cover the most common foods you would prepare in a compact unit.
The trade-off is obviously the capacity limit. You cannot fit a large holiday turkey or a sheet pan of cookies in here. If you are cooking for a family of four or more, you will find yourself running multiple batches, which defeats the purpose of speed. However, for singles, couples, or dorm dwellers, the combination of the shake reminder, powerful heating, and easy-clean basket makes this a highly efficient tool for daily use.
This unit is designed specifically for efficiency in a small footprint. At 4.5 quarts, it is one of the smallest options in the lineup, yet it packs a 1500-watt punch that rivals larger machines. The digital controls are straightforward, offering 12 presets that simplify the process for quick snacks and weeknight meals. The adjustable temperature setting goes up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the standard for achieving that golden, crispy exterior we all look for.
The inclusion of a shake reminder on such a compact model is impressive. It shows that West Bend understands that even small batches need attention to ensure even cooking. The nonstick basket is easy to clean, and the overall design is sleek, fitting easily next to a coffee maker or microwave without dominating the counter. For someone who wants to make crispy wings or roasted vegetables without dedicating a whole corner of the kitchen to a bulky appliance, this is an ideal solution.
The limitation is strictly volume. This unit is perfect for 2 to 4 people, but anything beyond that becomes a challenge. You will likely need to cook sides in separate rounds. Additionally, the plastic construction, while durable, does not offer the premium metal feel of the oven-style units. If you prefer a glass-door aesthetic or the ability to see your food through a window, this basket style will not provide that visual feedback. But for pure, no-nonsense crisping in a tight space, it performs exceptionally well.
Stepping up slightly in size, the West Bend Air Fryer 7 offers a 7-quart capacity that can feed up to six people. This makes it a strong contender for medium-to-large families who want the speed of an air fryer without the bulk of a full oven. It retains the modern conveniences found in the smaller models, such as the shake reminder and 12 presets, but adds a critical feature: a viewing window with an interior light. Being able to peek inside without opening the drawer keeps the heat contained and the cooking cycle uninterrupted.
Powered by 1600 watts, this unit heats up faster than the 1500-watt models, reducing wait times for dinner. The extra space allows you to cook a whole meal—perhaps a chicken alongside some potatoes—in a single batch, saving significant time and effort. The digital interface remains user-friendly, and the nonstick basket ensures that cleanup remains a hassle-free experience. The black and silver design gives it a modern look that blends well with contemporary kitchen decor.
The main consideration is whether the extra quart capacity justifies the additional space compared to the 4.5-quart model. If you regularly cook for more than four people, the 7-quart version is a necessary upgrade. However, if you mostly cook for two or three, the 4.5-quart might be sufficient. The viewing window is a nice touch, but it is worth noting that the interior light relies on the unit being plugged in and turned on to be effective. Still, for a family-oriented appliance that balances speed, capacity, and ease of use, this model hits the mark.
We compared published specs and features across the entire West Bend lineup to determine these rankings. Our selection process focused on capacity, power output, and unique features like rotisserie spits and viewing windows. Yes, the nonstick baskets for the compact and digital series are generally dishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to preserve the coating longer. The larger oven accessories like the crumb trays and baking racks are also typically safe for top-rack cleaning.
Most models include a "Preheat" preset that automatically manages the warm-up cycle. While they heat up very quickly due to high wattage, using the preset ensures consistent results, especially for baked goods or frozen foods.
The oven models feature a glass door, multiple racks, and accessories like rotisserie spits, allowing for baking and roasting larger items. The basket models are enclosed drawers designed specifically for air frying smaller portions with rapid circulation.
