If you want rugged, waterproof protection for a Tesla Model 3 that traps mud and snow without shedding fibers, choose Wekar Floor Mats Fits; if you need plush, noise-dampening carpet coverage for a Jeep Cherokee that handles daily commutes with style, choose Nordstrand Floor Mats. These two products sit at opposite ends of the automotive floor liner spectrum, catering to drivers with vastly different priorities and vehicle needs.
• Wekar Floor Mats Fits: The undisputed king of all-weather containment for Tesla owners, featuring deep channels and TPE construction that locks in water and debris; the trade-off is a utilitarian look and a lack of softness compared to carpet.
• Nordstrand Floor Mats: Offers a premium, carpeted feel with anti-slip backing for Jeep Cherokee drivers who value interior aesthetics and noise reduction over extreme liquid trapping; the trade-off is that they are not fully waterproof and rely on absorption rather than channeling.
• Who it's for: Wekar is for the Tesla owner who drives through mud, snow, or construction zones daily and refuses to let dirt touch their original carpet. Nordstrand is for the Jeep Cherokee driver who wants a clean, factory-like upgrade that feels soft underfoot but still offers basic weather resistance.
The Wekar Floor Mats Fits are engineered specifically for the Tesla Model 3, covering model years from 2018 through 2023, though they explicitly exclude the newer 2024 Highland version. This precision is not an afterthought; it comes from advanced 3D scanning technology that ensures the mats align perfectly with the vehicle's specific anchoring points. If you own a Model 3 and have ever struggled with generic floor liners that shift while driving or fail to cover the entire footwell, these custom-fit mats solve that problem immediately. The design prioritizes function over form, creating a barrier that is impossible to ignore when you step into your car.
What makes this product stand out is its commitment to total containment. Constructed from premium TPE material, these mats are designed to withstand the harshest elements. They feature high sidewalls and deep channels that actively trap rain, melting snow, road salt, and heavy mud. Unlike traditional carpet mats that soak up liquids and hold onto them, the non-stick surface of the Wekar liners allows water and slush to pool in the bottom of the channels without seeping into your vehicle's upholstery. This makes them ideal for anyone who lives in a climate with harsh winters or works in an environment where their boots track in significant amounts of dirt.
Maintenance is arguably the most compelling reason to choose this set. Because the material is inherently waterproof and scratch-resistant, cleaning takes seconds. You do not need to vacuum, scrub, or shampoo. A simple rinse with a garden hose or a quick wipe with a damp cloth removes everything from the surface. For the busy Tesla owner who values time and cleanliness, this ease of upkeep is a game-changer. However, if you prefer the tactile sensation of soft fabric under your feet or are looking for a mat that matches a luxurious, plush interior aesthetic, the hard, textured surface of the TPE might feel too industrial. These mats are built for durability and utility, making them the perfect choice for those who treat their car as a tool as much as a luxury vehicle.

In contrast to the utilitarian approach of the Wekar mats, the Nordstrand Floor Mats are designed with the Jeep Cherokee (5th Generation KL body) in mind, covering model years 2014 through 2023. Note that these are strictly for the standard Cherokee and will not fit the larger Grand Cherokee. This distinction is crucial for buyers ensuring compatibility before purchase. This combination creates a floor liner that feels more like an interior upgrade than a utility add-on, appealing to owners who want their Jeep to retain a comfortable, home-like atmosphere even during off-road excursions.
The core strength of the Nordstrand system lies in its materials and comfort. The backing is made of TPE rubber, which serves a dual purpose: it prevents the mats from sliding around while also dampening vibrations. This makes them excellent for drivers who spend long hours commuting or who simply enjoy a quiet ride. While they offer "all-weather protection," this protection is achieved through absorption and containment rather than the deep-channel flooding prevention seen in the Wekar set. If you encounter light rain, dry leaves, or occasional mud, these mats handle it well without soaking through quickly, provided you remove them occasionally to air dry.
However, the trade-off for this softer, quieter experience is that they are not designed for extreme wet conditions. If you drive through deep puddles or get caught in a heavy snowstorm, the carpet will absorb moisture rather than channeling it away. This means they require more maintenance than the TPE alternative; you cannot simply hose them down. Instead, you will likely need to vacuum them regularly and perhaps spot-clean stains. This makes the Nordstrand mats a better fit for the Jeep owner who uses their vehicle primarily for paved roads, light trails, or suburban driving, where the priority is interior comfort and a finished look rather than brute-force waterproofing. They are for the driver who wants their Jeep to look and feel good, even if it gets a little dirty.
• Best for liquid containment → Wekar Floor Mats Fits, thanks to deep channels and TPE waterproofing that keep fluids from touching your carpet.
• Best for extreme weather → Wekar Floor Mats Fits, designed to handle snow, ice, and mud without absorbing water.
• Best for interior comfort → Nordstrand Floor Mats, offering a soft, plush feel underfoot that mimics a high-end factory finish.
• Easiest cleaning method → Wekar Floor Mats Fits, which can be rinsed with a hose or wiped clean instantly.
• Longest lifespan in harsh environments → Wekar Floor Mats Fits, since TPE resists cracking and tearing better than carpet fibers in abrasive conditions.
• Vehicle specificity → Both are highly specific; Wekar is exclusive to Tesla Model 3 (2018-2023), while Nordstrand is exclusive to Jeep Cherokee (2014-2023).
If I were buying for myself, the choice would depend entirely on my vehicle and my driving habits. For a Tesla Model 3, I would unhesitatingly choose the Wekar Floor Mats Fits. The sheer volume of mud, salt, and water that can enter a low-clearance EV makes the waterproof, channeling design of the Wekar set essential. It protects the expensive interior from permanent damage and saves hours of cleaning time. Conversely, for a Jeep Cherokee used mostly on pavement, I would lean toward the Nordstrand Floor Mats. The plush carpet adds a level of sophistication and comfort that fits the Cherokee's character, and the noise reduction is a welcome bonus for highway driving. Ultimately, the Wekar mats are the superior choice for atv owners and off-road enthusiasts who prioritize absolute protection, while the Nordstrand mats serve the daily commuter who values comfort and aesthetics.
The Wekar Floor Mats Fits are fully waterproof due to their TPE construction and deep channels, effectively preventing any liquid from reaching the car's carpet. The Nordstrand Floor Mats use a carpet material that absorbs moisture, so while they offer all-weather protection, they are not fully waterproof and should not be submerged.
Wekar mats are incredibly easy to maintain; you can simply rinse them with a hose or wipe them with a damp cloth. Nordstrand mats require more effort, needing regular vacuuming and spot cleaning, as the carpet fibers will hold onto dirt and liquids longer than the non-stick TPE surface.
Yes, both brands use precise 3D scanning for fitment. Wekar fits Tesla Model 3 models from 2018 to 2023 but excludes the 2024 Highland. Nordstrand fits Jeep Cherokee models from 2014 to 2023 (KL body) but does not fit the Grand Cherokee. Always verify your model year before ordering.
Wekar mats, being hard TPE, provide less sound dampening, though they do stay securely in place to prevent rattling.
